The entertainment mogul talks about the state of the culture.

(AllHipHop News) Sean "Diddy" Combs is taking part in the new Fox talent competition series The Four: Battle for Stardom. The Hip Hop entrepreneur spoke with Billboard about the program. He was also asked about the culture that helped him build a net worth north of $800 million.

"It’s the truest form of music that kids around the world can relate to and I think that the state of Hip Hop... We’re in our most powerful state. We can make change. We can have a voice socially, politically, economically and artistically," declared Diddy.

Over the last few weeks, several Hip Hop figures - such as Pete Rock, 21 Savage, T.I., DMX, and Cardi B - have expressed their views about the current state of Hip Hop. Diddy was asked if he believes today's rap music is at the same level of quality as the records in the 1990s.

"Hip Hop has grown up and it has to be fearless and embrace, even though some people like the timeless stuff. It’s just a new time and it’s a new era, so it’s like you got to get down or lay down when it comes to music. You know, no matter what, only the songs survive," said the Bad Boy Records founder. "That’s the beauty about this show is that you’re dealing with people that have No. 1 records. There’s not a lot of people in the world that have had a bunch of No. 1 records."

The Four: Battle for Stardom also features DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor, and Charlie Walk. The show is set to premiere January 4 on Fox.
