Shyheim Surrenders To Police In New Years Hit And Run Case

SHYHEIM STANDS ACCUSED IN THE DEATH OF A STATEN ISLAND MAN

(AllHipHop News) Shyheim, an affiliate of Wu Tang, has turned himself into police and now stands accused in a New Year’s Day hit and run that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man.

He will likely face a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a class D felony, according to a report by the Staten Island Advance.

On January 1, Felipe Avila, a bakery worker, was going to his job in Staten Island when he was struck by a car that Shyheim was driving. Reports say Shyheim didn’t stop at a stop sign, causing the collision. Police say the 36-year-old rapper then ran after the accident, which resulted in Avila’s death.

Prior to turning himself in, Shyheim contacted AllHipHop to express himself and to also ask for support from the community.

In an online video, he expressed how fans and supporters could help him defend himself legally.

At the time of his surrender on Wednesday (January 8), Shyheim was already on $10,000 bail for a 2013 drug-related incident.

Shyheim came out in the 1990’s as one of the youngest affiliates of the Wu Tang Clan. Then, known as the “The Rugged Child,” he was able to make a name for himself through his lyrical skills and his deep relationships with Wu.
