(AllHipHop News) Skillz has a new gig to ad to his expanding artistic repertoire. The rapper turned DJ will also serve as an artist-in-residence at the University of Richmond starting in January 2018.
He told AllHipHop.com that this new experience served as a homecoming of sorts that would
“To be able to return to the college that I was given my rap name at is surreal. The opportunity to teach students about this culture, the culture that changed mine & many other lives is something I take very seriously and I’m super excited to start this new journey with the University Of Richmond,” Skillz told AllHipHop.
Mad Skillz and Uni of Richmond professor Erik Nielson will be teaching a course on Hip-Hop that is certain to be a treat for students.
Skillz, formerly known as Mad Skillz, has an extensive history in rap that goes back to the Golden Era of Rap where lyrics reigned. He has worked with Jay-Z, Nas, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Will Smith, Missy Elliott, Cee Lo and Pharrell. He is also one of the best known rappers to be a ghost writer.
Skillz has transitioned into a DJ and moves between his native Richmond and Los Angeles.
