Slick Rick Gets Highest Honor From The Borough Of The Bronx

Congrats to Slick Rick, who will be honored in the Bronx next weekend.

(AllHipHop News) Slick Rick will go down in history with the likes of Colin Powell, Stanley Kubrick, Afrika Bambaataa, Fat Joe, Neil deGrasse Tyson and others.

The rap star will be added to the Bronx Walk of Fame this Sunday (May 20) according to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz.

The award is the highest honor for a resident or former resident of the Bronx,

“We’re proud to welcome back the sons and daughters of The Bronx to celebrate their accomplishments and induct them to the Bronx Walk of Fame,” said Ruben Diaz. Olga Luz Tirado, executive director of The Bronx Tourism Council added, “It’s exciting to celebrate our Bronx heroes and sheroes during this celebration of the best of the borough.”

Over 100 Bronxites have been inducted into the Walk of Fame since it was started in 1997. In addition to Slick Rick, other inductees to be honored include #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and actress Maggie Siff.

The accolade comes just as Slick Rick prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, which was released November 1, 1988.
