(AllHipHop News) Snoop Dogg is a West Coast gangbanger turned rapper and a success story for all the youth. And the Long Beach native has consistently remained at the top of his craft in his three-decade-long career.
Now, he turns with yet another highly-anticipated album, titled I Wanna Thank Me.
Uncle Snoop unleashed the lead single by the same name earlier in July, a phrase he kept repeating during his acceptance speech at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On Thursday, August 1st, Snoop held an exclusive listening session for his forthcoming project, which will be his 17th total.
The event was filled with nothing but positive energy, as friends, family, and select media were invited to hear the new album. Others waited outside for the documentary screening and panel to follow.
Inside the weed-friendly studio, Snoop sad at the very front with producer Battlecat on the other end. Lots of OGs were in the building to support, including KurupKurupt, Warren G, Big Boy from REAL 92.3, and Lil Duval coming through at the end.
While the album has no release date as of yet, each song had everybody in the room bumping their heads and claiming “that’s the one!” Snoop seems to be returning to his old sound, the real-good g-funk era of hip-hop we all grew up to.
In addition to Snoop touching on all the relevant topics in society today, including the ability for Bloods and Crips to get along, the 47-year-old does not hesitate in delivering only the best quality music possible.
Features hard included Ozana and Slim Jxmmi on a record, YG on a beat from Mustard, Wiz Khalifa, Jazzy Pha production, and even the late Nate Dogg (rest in peace). The last one had Warren G on his feet dancing.
Snoop also proceeded to play the singles “I Wanna Thank Me,” which had Lil Duval reciting the lyrics word for word.
He states, “Amazing song… there’s something about it.”
The conclusion of the session resulting in a standing ovation from all those who attended and listened to the album.
