Step Your Game Up: Razer Tarantula Keyboard and DeathAdder

If you're on the computer as much as the AllHipHop team, then you probably have a few fun PC games locked in for your "down time." When the team at Razer sent over their Tarantula keyboard and DeathAdder mouse, I was intrigued. The first rule of thumb for anything attached to my computer is functionality. I don't want to have to spend extra time attaching, plugging in or fiddling throughout the day, so the accessories I use have to make sense.Off the top, the Tarantula keyboard is not only comfortable to use day to day, it's also got some pretty cool features for you to transition into a good round of gaming online. With customizable, backlit buttons (and 10 extras!) for aiming and shooting, I can go from typing like a maniac to shooting like one on Counter Strike. The Razer mouse moves about effortlessly, and the extra buttons meant for custom game use actually help you breeze through moving back and forth on your browser as you surf the net. It also looks pretty cool too, as the pulsating blue light adds some flavor to your desktop. The only real critique I have is with the keyboard in terms of the typing capacity. Because the board is set up to maximize your gaming experience, the "delete" and "insert" buttons are positioned awkwardly for an expert typist. You do get used to it after a few days, however, so it's a small exchange for the great features you get. Here is some information for you gamers to review. Let us know if you've used the Tarantula and/or the DeathAdder, and give your feedback!DeathAdder Specs:

Tarantula Specs:

Anti-Ghosting Capability

With the anti-ghosting capability of the Razer Tarantula™, you can press up to

an unprecedented 10 buttons at one go without the "ghosting" effect

(For a conventional keyboard, signal failure occurs when three to four keys are

pressed simultaneously). This means more commands can now be executed at any

one time.

With a 32KB onboard memory – Powered by Razer Synapse™ – up to five onboard

profiles for different games can be stored. So no matter which LAN party you go

to, all you need to do is bring your Razer Tarantula™ along, and you're ready

to play.

A Keytop That is Eight Times

as Responsive

The Razer Tarantula™ is the only gaming keyboard on the market with 1000Hz

Ultrapolling™. This means a delay of only 1ms between the keystroke and the

key's reaction, as compared to that of 125Hz / 8ms found in conventional

keyboards. For extra measure, check out this guy's personal review of the keyboard - he's pretty excited about it!
