(AllHipHop News) It's been a memorable seven days for Cardi B. The Bronx rapstress scored six different songs on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. However, Cardi's foray into politics has made the most headlines across the globe.
It started when Cardi B called out Donald Trump for shutting down the government over not getting funding to build his unpopular wall on the Mexican border. The "Money" rhymer then got into a back-and-forth with two conservative pundits on Twitter with Cardi holding her own against Tomi Lahren and Stephanie Hamill.
With her tweets collecting more than 2 million likes, Cardi appears to be the voice for many progressives on Twitter. Now The Late Show host Stephen Colbert is jokingly suggesting Belcalis should take on Trump directly.
"I am starting a petition for the Democrats to let [Cardi B] give the rebuttal to the [State Of The Union]. Sign it by retweeting this!" posted Colbert on Wednesday night.
Unfortunately, it seems the annual State Of The Union is on hold. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi requested that Trump postpone the SOTU due to the government shutdown. After first insisting he will still give the speech in front of Congress, the president announced he is halting the address until the government reopens.
