(AllHipHop News) "If somebody comes up to me with something that’s comfortable, I would definitely sign," Stro told AllHipHop in 2017 about potentially inking a deal with a label. Fast forward 18 months and the New Yorker is now part of the Mass Appeal Records roster.
Mass Appeal was founded by Nasir "Nas" Jones and Peter Bittenbender. The record company currently releases music by Nas, Run The Jewels, Dave East, Mannie Fresh, J Dilla, Pimp C, DJ Shadow, Fashawn, and Boldy James. Billboard caught up with Stro to get some insight into his decision on joining Nasir's team.
"Being a part of them is fire just because they're so authentic. One thing about labels, or any corporate structure in New York, you go into the office and it feels real siddity and real Hollywood," explained the 22-year-old emcee.
He continued, "That's the business and I expect that but sometimes it could throw off the vibe. With Mass Appeal, just being in that office, you can tell those people genuinely enjoy their job. They'll sit with you and build with you and ask you questions. They're truly fans of the music just like I am so I think it works for all of us."
The Brooklyn-bred rapper formerly known as The Astronomical Kid dropped his Nice 2 Meet You, Again EP on October 19. That was Stro's first release under Mass Appeal. His discography also consists of several mixtapes as well as the Grade A Frequencies project.
