A 'Jersey Shore' cast member took issue with 'Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta' being crowned Reality Royalty.

(AllHipHop News) From the moment Surviving R. Kelly premiered on Lifetime in January, the docuseries became a highly publicized cultural phenomenon. Some viewers even credit the program with pushing Cook County, Illinois authorities to investigate R&B singer R. Kelly for sexual abuse of minors.

The creators behind Surviving R. Kelly were recognized at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Surviving R. Kelly took home the trophy for Best Documentary by beating out At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal, McQueen, Minding the Gap, and RBG.

In addition, VH1's long-running reality television show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta won Reality Royalty. The victory appeared to upset the cast of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Deena Cortese deleted a tweet expressing she was "shocked" MTV did not give the award to the Jersey Shore reboot.

Nick Cannon's work on The Masked Singer and Wild 'n Out earned the entertainer two nominations at this year's ceremony. He won the Best Host award for Wild 'n Out. During his acceptance speech, Cannon told the audience, "A small, little show created by a black man, doing it."

Other 2019 MTV Movie & TV Award winners include Avengers: Endgame (Best Movie), Game of Thrones (Best Show), Robert Downey Jr., (Best Hero - Avengers: Endgame), Josh Brolin (Best Villain - Avengers: Endgame), Lady Gaga (Best Performance in a Movie - A Star is Born), and Elisabeth Moss (Best Performance in a Show - The Handmaid's Tale).
