AN INDIVIDUAL SUSPECTED OF CARRYING THE EBOLA VIRUS HAS BEEN ADMITTED INTO A SACRAMENTO HOSPITAL

A patient has been admitted into a special isolation unit inside of a University of California hospital in Sacramento after exhibiting symptoms consistent with the often deadly Ebola virus, and is currently undergoing tests to confirm whether the patient does indeed have the disease.

In a statement from the medical center, the patient has "symptoms consistent with Ebola infection" but according to the Sacramento Bee newspaper, Sacramento County Public Health Department spokeswoman Laura McCasland said "The patient is considered low-risk and more information is being gathered."At this time it is not known whether the individual has recently traveled to West Africa.

This story is still developing.
