(AllHipHop News) There are still two weeks left in Black Music Month. Listeners can celebrate the sounds of African-American acts by streaming exclusive playlists curated by some of the top producers in the business. Swizz Beatz, Tay Keith, Teddy Riley, Raphael Saadiq, Rodney Jerkins, Mike and Keys, Wondagurl, and Salaam Remi selected records for Apple Music's "Producers Represent" lists.
“The Apple Music family understands the impact of the Black community’s music on all popular music and we plan to celebrate it the entire month of June,” said Ebro Darden, Apple Music’s Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B. “Hip-Hop and R&B are the most popular music genres in the world, so that makes this year even more spectacular.”
Swizz Beatz's playlist includes songs by artists such as Nas, Lil Wayne, Curtis Mayfield, and Alicia Keys. The Grammy winner exclaims, "Music is the soundtrack of my life! Reflecting on music created by the culture is inspiring and also refreshing.” Tay Keith chose tracks by Future, Jeezy, Jay-Z, Drake, Gucci Mane, and others. He states, “Black music and music production means a lot to me, knowing how dominant our culture has grown.”
Teddy Riley adds, “Black music is about innovation. Most of the artists I picked, I’ve had the honor to personally work with in some way and to see their individual genius at work. Everyone on this list has created their own unique sound and has shifted or moved the culture forward, each in their own way.”
