SZA Recalls The Time Jay-Z Said He Thought She Was A "Fluke"

The TDE vocalist sits down with BBC Radio's DJ Semtex to discuss her influences and more.

(AllHipHop News) SZA is one of the breakout stars of 2017. Her Ctrl album was praised by music critics, and the project hosts the Gold-certified single "Love Galore" featuring Travis Scott.

The Top Dawg Entertainment singer may have gained significant notoriety this year, but apparently, a music legend was not too high on her potential at first. SZA retold BBC Radio's DJ Semtex the time she met with Jay-Z about three years ago.

"He was the first person to tell me that he thought I was a fluke to my face," said SZA. "I laughed and I said, 'So did I.' And I still kind of feel that way."

The R&B vocalist added, "He was just like, 'You're good. You're pretty good. You're really good. I thought you were a fluke.'" According to SZA, the two artists then just chuckled about the conversation.
