(AllHipHop News) One of the most memorable moments from the 2009 Hot 97 Summer Jam concert was Jay-Z surprising the audience with a performance of his "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" song. It was also unanticipated - even for Jay - to see T-Pain pop up during the set.
This week, T-Pain visited The Breakfast Club to promote his Oblivion, his first new album in five years. The radio show appearance featured the Tallahassee-raised singer recalling what happened at the '09 Summer Jam.
"I was going to support [Jay's] record," stated Pain. "They knew I was coming. The whole thing was set up. The only person that didn't know was Jay... [Hot 97's then program director] Ebro set it up."
He continued, "I was asking Ebro could he get Jay to do it on my set. And he said Jay was triple booked that day, but they didn't want everybody to know he was coming to Summer Jam because he was doing Jeezy's set."
In addition, T-Pain discussed the rumored friction with Future. The "Textin My Ex" vocalist explained he has no problem with the Freebandz leader, but while he's open to it, Pain doesn't see a collaboration between the two famous Auto-Tune users ever taking place.
"I don't think his fans would let it happen. This is just me speculating," said Pain. "I don't think his fans would be okay with it. My fans would be like, 'Thank God this happened.'"
The Grammy-winning artist added, "[Future] doesn't have to. He's not one of those people who needs T-Pain. And there's a ton of those people."
