Talib Kweli Defends His Reputation Against Res' Claims He's Ruining Her Career

Talib had something to say after singer Res accused him of derailing her career.

(AllHipHop News) Rap star Talib Kweli has defended himself against salacious claims made by R&B singer Res.

Last night (June 1), Res took to her Twitter account to blast Talib, accusing him of wrecking her career after she signed to his indie label Javotti Media in 2013.

Res declared Kweli was destroying her career after she rejected his overtures in a hot tub during an encounter in Puerto Rico several years ago.

"I tried to be humble but you letting a kiss that you didn’t get @talibkweli keep my career on hold and I dare you to say I’m not telling the truth you know Mr.Green wasn’t you married then 🤔I’ll wait," an angry Res fumed.

Talib disputed allegations of sexual harassment last night and he followed up his defense today (June 2) with a lengthier statement, along with a document proving a legal claim by Res had been dimissed by a court.

"I’ve always been a working class artist. Nose to the grind, put out the product, hit the road kind of artist. My platform has never been huge," Talib Kweli said. "I’ve never been wealthy. But I’ve always been consistent. Because of this, many artists come to me for help with their product.

"I’ve never pursued any artist to sign them. The artists you see me work w [with] on my label come to me. And because I love their art, I’ve always shared my platform, as small as it is, barely enough room for me, with others. All throughout my career," Talib said.
