(AllHipHop News) Strange Music and Top Dawg Entertainment came together again in 2013 when Tech N9ne recruited Kendrick Lamar to appear on his single "Fragile." Two years later Kendrick released his critically acclaimed second major label album To Pimp A Butterfly, and Tech was asked by Montreality to share his thoughts on the project.
"I think he had the freedom to do what he wanted to do, and he did him. And him is a beautiful thing. It's lyrical. It's poetic. It's cohesive throughout the whole album," said Tech. "It's Jill Scott. It's George Clinton. It's Musiq Soulchild. It's Hip Hop. It's wonderful. It's gangsta. It's contradictory. It's everything. It's human."
To Pimp A Butterfly has been one of the best reviewed albums of 2015. It currently has a Metacritic score of 97/100 which signifies "universal acclaim." K. Dot's latest work is also a commercial success, selling over 500,000 copies in the United States so far.
