The Black Eyed Peas To Release 'Masters Of The Sun' AR App

The voice cast features Stan Lee, Jaden Smith, Queen Latifah, Michael Rapaport, Snoop Dogg & more.

(AllHipHop News) This Black Friday will see the arrival of The Black Eyed Peas' companion augmented reality app for their Masters of the Sun: The Zombie Chronicles graphic novel. The comic was distributed by Marvel.

Each page of the AR version will include text or graphics that become animated by holding the mobile device over a page of the standalone novel. As a result, users will have access to nearly 90 minutes of content.

"I've known about the possibilities of AR for the past three years and we've been building in those worlds and as we were working on the graphic novel with Ben Jackendoff and Damion Scott, I know we're going to do a traditional graphic novel," says BEP member will.i.am. "It's wasn't going to like a traditional graphic novel and I wanted elements of the book to where it came to life. VR, AR, AI all of the cool acronyms, we've already been dabbling and this is one end result."

In addition, will.i.am and Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer co-produced the score for the app. The Black Eyed Peas were also able to enlist some big names to provide voice-overs for the project.

Celebrities tapped for the Masters of the Sun cast include Rakim, Jaden Smith, Jamie Foxx, Charlamagne Tha God, Queen Latifah, Common, Jason Isaacs, Mary J Blige, Rosario Dawson, Ice-T, Slick Rick, Raekwon, Redman, KRS-One, Michael Rapaport, Snoop Dogg, John DiMaggio, and Flavor Flav. Comic book icon Stan Lee served as the narrator.

"This is so exciting, I wish I was about 70 years younger so I could grow up with this because what this is going to look like in another couple of generations... I can't even imagine," Lee states.

Masters of the Sun: The Zombie Chronicles augmented reality app was developed in partnership with the mixed reality company Trigger Global. The app is scheduled for release on November 24 via iOS and Android mobile platforms for $1.99.

I saw this at Comic Con in LA...saw Stan Lee himself hit the stage with a bunch of Hip-Hop heads. It was amazing. And this is Marvel acting as s distributor...very revolutionary approach to creating.
