(AllHipHop News) Biggie Smalls is the illest! Name another rapper with a street named after them!
The rapper known as The Notorious B.I.G. has been approved to have a block co-named after him by the Brooklyn Community Board.
Christopher Wallace Biggie's real name, will have the block named where he was reared as a youth. St. James Place between Fulton Street and Gates Avenue will now be called Christopher Wallace Way.
"Honoring Biggie symbolizes more than just one man," said Leroy McCarthy, to NY1. "It symbolizes a culture. It symbolizes a borough. It symbolizes a people, and Hip-Hop is worldwide."
This process, lead by McCarthy, has taken over five years to happen. It took so long because many in the community opposed BIG's lyrics, which they deemed vulgar, violent and misogynistic. After such a long term, the opposition has subsided. A vast majority approved the move in favor of Christopher Wallace Way.
Additionally, more than 1,000 signatures signed an online petition to support the move.
