The Red Sox Are Chasing Drake Around For A Performance
(AllHipHop News) The Boston Red Sox have hatched a plan to land a performance from superstar rapper Drake this summer.
According to team president Sam Kennedy, the team is pursuing Drake in hopes of making Fenway Park more of a destination for non-baseball events.
"We've been approaching Drake this year," Kennedy told the Boston Herald. "We would love to have Drake come and we understand he's not doing a big summer tour. But that's an example of someone (we've) proactively gone out after."
Although the Red Sox have not had any luck yet booking Drake, they hope that they will be able to bypass his handlers or booking agents and negotiate with the rapper for a one-off directly.
"Typically the concerts are routed either by Live Nation or AIG and a very set number of dates are going to play in a set number of cities and locations," Kennedy said. "But when folks go off and do one-off shows like Pearl Jam did last summer, we're able to make a pitch directly to them and say, 'This is why you should come to Fenway on a one-off basis.'"
An appearance by Drake at Fenway Park would no doubt excite the fans, since the rapper's music is among the most popular walkup and warm up songs for the MLB.
