“Today” Cuts Off Janelle Monae’s Police Brutality Speech

Janelle Monae rocked NBC’s “Today” Friday morning in New York, but when the singer started to talk about police brutality, she was abruptly cut off.

Monae appeared to promote a new Wondaland Records album, “The Eephus” and performed the anti-police brutality song “Hell You Talmbout.”

At the song’ end, Monàe told the crowd:

“Yes Lord! God bless America! God bless all the lost lives to police brutality. We want white America to know that we stand tall today. We want black America to know we stand tall today. We will not be silenced…”

And, then he was silenced. The “Today” reporters started to talk over the Atlanta-based singer. Check it out below.
