Tory Lanez: I Feel Like There’s A War On Rappers Right Now

Daystar discusses Rich The Kid’s recovery following a brutal assault.

(AllHipHop News) June 2018 has been a mix of highs and lows for Hip Hop culture. On the music side, listeners got new projects from Kanye West, Kanye West/Kid Cudi, Nas, Jay Rock, Jay-Z/Beyoncé, and others. Unfortunately, the month has also been marred by multiple violent acts against artists.

Florida’s XXXTentacion and Pennsylvania’s Jimmy Wopo were both killed on June 18. Just days before those murders, Rich The Kid was hospitalized as a result of a home invasion at his girlfriend Tori Brixx's L.A. apartment. Canadian rapper/singer Tory Lanez recently chatted with Beats 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe about Rich recovering from being robbed and assaulted at gunpoint.

“I think he’s actually good. I think he’s back on the road. I mean, sh*t happens. At the end of the day, you can’t really plan for life’s ups and downs. It’s a rollercoaster. It’s different strokes for different folks,” said Tory. “Sh-t just happens on the daily. You got to just do your best to stay protected.”

He added, “As a rapper, I feel like there’s a war on rappers right now. You got to do your best to just stay protected, but I know at the end of the day, f-ck the downs - this is about the ups. We’re at a place where this record and brand new music from both of us is going to uplift his fan base and uplift my fan base.”

Rich The Kid presented his debut studio album The World Is Yours in March. That same month, Tory Lanez released the Memories Don't Die album. The two hitmakers joined forces for the new single “Talk To Me” which premieres today (June 20).

Lanez is also creating an album titled Love Me Now? featuring 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, Gunna, Bryson Tiller, Lil Baby, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and PnB Rock. He also has a Spanish language project, El Agua, with contributions from Nicky Jam, Ozuna, and Farruko.
