Tyler, The Creator Talks Deciding To Address His Sexuality On 'Flower Boy' Album

The Odd Future co-founder explains why he views the LP as his best.

(AllHipHop News) Tyler, The Creator shocked some listeners when the well-known internet troll appeared to finally confirm he's attracted to men. "I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004," rapped Tyler on “I Ain’t Got Time!" from 2017's Flower Boy.

Fantastic Man spoke to the Odd Future de facto leader for an extensive feature article. Tyler was asked about covering his sexuality on Flower Boy. The Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival curator still played somewhat coy on the topic.

"I don’t know," responded Tyler. “It’s a literal question and the thing about humans is we hate not having an answer. We hate not being in the know. So people will bullsh*t answers, make sh*t up, instead of being just, like [shrugs his shoulders]. I don’t know. There are some things that are just unexplainable.”

Flower Boy is Tyler, The Creator's highest charting LP. The project debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart with 106,000 album-equivalent units and earned a Grammy nomination. He spoke about viewing his fourth studio album as his best.

“It’s more accessible, easier listening. I got great hooks, the beats are great, sh*t doesn’t need taking out. It’s cohesive. The album art is f*cking flawless. I get all my points across. The features are done well. I found my version of writing a pop song but still a rap song. I still get weird musically, but it’s not too gross," expressed Tyler.

His description of the album is right on point (of course cause he made it). His most accessible album to date.
