The President of the United States once called global warming a hoax created by the Chinese.

(AllHipHop News) The southern part of the country is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. The back-to-back devastating storms led many people to point to climate change as the cause.

Chicago rapper Vic Mensa is one of the voices addressing what he sees as the real-life consequences of global warming. While speaking with Billboard at the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief Telethon, The Autobiography album creator discussed the hot-button political topic.

"I haven't heard enough in this entire storm fiasco really holding people to a standard of honesty," said Mensa. "You can't come out and say we pray for Houston, we support Houston, and then deny climate change."

He added, "We need to take preventative measures, and we need to remove anyone in our government that doesn't think we do."

Donald Trump was heavily criticized during the 2016 election campaign for saying global warming was a hoax created by the Chinese government. After becoming president, Trump also received backlash for pulling out of the Paris Agreement in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
