(AllHipHop News) Vic Mensa has been very outspoken on the issue of gun reform. The Roc Nation emcee is performing at the "End Gun Violence Together Rally" taking place today (February 11).
Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, poet Cleo Wade, actor Taye Diggs, Martin Luther King III, and others are listed as special guests for the event. Over 700,000 Americans submitted postcards in support of universal background checks for firearm purchases that will be presented to members of Congress on Tuesday morning.
Mensa also participated in the 2018 March For Our Lives in Washington. That student-led demonstration was sparked by the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. A gunman killed seventeen students and staff members at the school on February 14, 2018.
“It’s the time that we hold the people who have taken on positions of power accountable, and we demand they stop putting their pocketbooks above our lives,” said Vic at the March. “The NRA could never pay enough money to bring back the kids from Stoneman Douglas, to bring back the kids in Chicago, to bring back Hadiya Pendleton. There’s no monetary value for that, there’s no price for that.”
