Vince Staples: "The 90's Get A Lot Of Credit - I Don't Really Know Why" (VIDEO/POLL)
(AllHipHop News) The 1990's is routinely regarded as the high point of Hip Hop culture. It is practically impossible to measure the number of legendary emcees and classic albums to emerge from that decade. But is Hip Hop's love for the 90's based on merit or nostalgia?
1993 born rapper Vince Staples sat down with Time to discuss the 90's era. According to the Summertime '06 album creator, people may want to reevaluate their opinions on the Golden Era.
"The 90's get a lot of credit. I don't really know why. Biggie and 2Pac those were the staples of the 90's. I think that's why they get the 'Golden Era' credit," stated Staples. "There's not a 50 Cent in the 90's. Did they even have a Kanye? Jay Z's biggest song - his only number one - happened a couple of years ago. The early 2000's is where it's at."
Vince goes on to name Bow Wow as one of his favorite rappers of all time. The Long Beach native also comments on his appreciation for all genres and artists keeping it real in their music.
