(AllHipHop News) Millions of people have watched Chika on social media rhyming over other rapper's beats. The product of Montgomery, Alabama went über-viral in April 2018 when she posted a "letter" to Kanye West using his "Jesus Walks" production.
Chika has also tackled tracks by The Notorious B.I.G., Cardi B, Offset, 21 Savage, Blueface, Lil Nas X, City Girls, and others. In addition, she showed off her lyrical abilities during the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards cyphers alongside Neo-Soul Queen Erykah Badu.
The 22-year-old rapper/singer has now signed a deal with Warner Records. Following the announcement, Chika presented the music video for the mxxwll-produced "High Rises." The single will appear on her forthcoming debut EP which is expected to drop later this summer.
"I think it's cosmic that this song is released a day after signing with Warner Records. It's my origin story, in which I didn't even know if I'd ever get this opportunity. I'm blessed and grateful to see it come full circle. I know my fans are, too," says Chika.
The "High Rises" visuals were directed by fellow AL native Cierra "Sh00ter" Glaude of AT&T's Filmmaker Mentorship Program. Lead mentor Lena Waithe executive produced the video via her Hillman Grad production company.
In May, Chika expressed her political views on a Waithe-hosted episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by blasting her home state's controversial anti-abortion law. Her performance of "Rachey v. Alabama" was a tribute to one of her close female friends and all the women in Alabama.
