Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá's story of a "super-dysfunctional family of superheroes" is headed to the streamer.

(AllHipHop News) Music legend Mary J. Blige earned her first Academy Award acting nomination for her role in the 2017 Netflix film Mudbound. The Queen of Hip Hop Soul is appearing in another production from the streaming service.

Steve Blackman's The Umbrella Academy premieres February 15 on Netflix. Blige plays a time-traveling assassin in the forthcoming television adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics series.

A trailer for the 10-episode show was uploaded to YouTube this week. The teaser collected over 700,000 views in one day, and it became a Top 5 trending video on the platform.

The Umbrella Academy also stars Ellen Page, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, and Kate Walsh. The original comic's creator Gerard Way and illustrator Gabriel Bá serve as co-executive producers.
