Will Hot 97 Ban 6ix9ine's Music After The Rapper Is Released From Prison?

There will soon be an answer on whether the general public will accept Tekashi's new tunes.

(AllHipHop News) Tekashi 6ix9ine has been one of the most talked about subjects in Hip Hop over the last several weeks. After the Brooklynite's decision to testify in federal court against his former Nine Trey Blood comrades and some of his rap peers, pundits are questioning if 6ix9ine can continue his music career.

There have been reports the 23-year-old internet troll has signed a new record deal worth $10 million. But will rap fans embrace Tekashi now that he is a known government witness or what many people call a "snitch"?

According to TMZ, one of 6ix9ine's hometown radio stations may not even play his songs. Hot 97 apparently has no plans to support Tekashi's tunes because of possible negative outcomes from the convicted felon taking the stand; unless listeners demand to hear the music.

The website reports:

An executive from HOT 97 FM tells TMZ ... when Tekashi is released from prison and drops new music, the radio station will NOT jump to debut any of the records, and they don't anticipate playing any of 6ix9ine's music at all. Fact is, the exec tells us HOT 97 has NEVER been a huge Tekashi69 supporter, and him ratting on former gang members is digging an even bigger hole for himself as far as the radio station is concerned.

Hot 97 morning show host and former station manager Ebro Darden is an outspoken critic of Tekashi 6ix9ine. Darden was supposedly instrumental in keeping the "Gummo" performer from appearing at the station's annual Summer Jam concert.

6ix9ine released his Dummy Boy album in 2018 after he was taken into custody by federal agents. The New Yorker was also a guest feature on A Boogie wit da Hoodie's single "Swervin" which became a Top 40 hit in 2019 and spent 20 weeks on the Hot 100 chart.

It depends on how much popularity his music is. Supply and demand.
