(AllHipHop News) Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's production company will launch a “global broadcast entertainment platform” featuring their celebrity pals for Formula 1 racing.
According to reports, the Smiths company Westbrook will partner with Apollo World Touring, to produce stunts and challenges featuring celebrities, as well as live performances programmed around Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix weekends.
The deal was prompted by an episode of the actor’s Facebook Watch challenge series "The Bucket List," in which Smith and his son Trey competed in a one-on-one race at the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with coaching from five-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.
“I’ve always been a massive fan of the Formula 1 world and fell even more in love with the sport while shooting an episode of Will Smith’s The Bucket List with Lewis Hamilton at last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix," Smith said in a statement. "F1’s commitment to creating engaging and inspiring content for its fans mirrors our mission at Westbrook Studios. The synergy of our storytelling is undeniable, and I’m excited for fans to join us on this wild ride.”
The "Men in Black" star will serve as the project’s executive producer through the production company he and Red Table Talks host Pinkett Smith founded last year with Miguel Melendez and Kosaku Yada.
Westbrook will produce the project in association with Apollo World Touring, under license from Formula 1, in a bid to attract new fans to the sport, and generate more excitement for long-time fans.
