XXXTentacion Becomes First Lead Artist To Top Hot 100 Posthumously Since Biggie

The song leads several other charts too.

(AllHipHop News) Back in 1997, The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize" and "Mo Money Mo Problems" hit #1 on the Hot 100 after his death. Another deceased leading artist hasn't topped the chart until this week when XXXTentacion rose to the highest position.

XXX's "SAD!" is now the most popular song in the country. The record beat out Cardi B's "I Like It" featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin which rose to its new peak of #2.

Only seven other acts have reached #1 on the Hot 100 after passing away. Static Major was the last act to earn a chart topper after death with his feature on Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" in 2008.

"SAD!" is also the #1 entry on the Streaming Songs (48.9 million streams), Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. This gives Triple X his first leaders on each of those tallies.

Additionally, the rapper/singer born Jahseh Onfroy saw huge increases on the Billboard 200. His 2017 album 17 sits at #7 while 2018's ? jumped all the way to #3.

XXXTentacion was killed in Deerfield Beach, Florida on June 18. He was 20 years old.
