A few of the "Lils" were approved by the Grammy Screening Committee.

(AllHipHop News) Jahseh "XXXTentacion" Onfroy just won Best New Artist at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards. According to HDD, the late performer will not have the chance to be the first posthumous winner of that same honor at the 2019 Grammys.

The website reports:

> XXXTentacion was ruled ineligible. The rapper's first album was released in August 2017, just five weeks before the start of the current eligibility year.

It was previously revealed that Cardi B and Post Malone were also ruled ineligible for a Best New Artist Grammy nomination. Apparently, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, 21 Savage, Lil Xan, 6lack, GoldLink, BlocBoy JB, Famous Dex, YoungBoy Never Broke Again**,** NF, Daniel Ceasar, Normani, Ozuna, and Camila Cabello didn't make the final list of 332 artists on the ballot.

Juice WRLD, Lil Baby, Lil Peep, Lil Pump, and Lil Skies supposedly made the cut. Previously, Tone Lōc, Kris Kross, Digable Planets, Puff Daddy, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Drake, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Iggy Azalea, and Lil Uzi Vert were nominated for Best New Artist.

Arrested Development won Best New Artist at the 1993 Grammy Awards, Lauryn Hill won the award in 1999, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took home the trophy in 2014. The last Hip Hop artist to prevail in the category was Chance The Rapper in 2017.
