The Florida-raised performer wants to work with two acts on the label’s current roster.

(AllHipHop News) The legacy of Def Jam Recordings is undeniable. LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Jay-Z, Beastie Boys, Nas, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Rihanna, DMX, Rick Ross, Frank Ocean and other music superstars have walked the halls of that label.

Def Jam is now under the direction of new CEO Paul Rosenberg. One of Rosenberg’s first signees is Jacksonville’s YK Osiris. The 18-year-old sat down with DJ Smallz to talk about his decision to partner with the New York City-based record company.

“I went viral on Instagram, and my boy [Def Jam VP Alexander “AE” Edwards] saw me on Instagram, my viral video. He DM’d me and said he wanted to meet me,” said YK. “The next day or two days after, I got on a flight to New York, went there, chilled for three days, then I signed.”

He added, “It was the best deal that somebody could ever have.” When asked which acts on the Def Jam roster he’d like to collaborate with, the southerner mentioned pop singer Justin Bieber and Hip Hop artist Dave East.

The “Valentine” performer went on to discuss telling his mom about signing with the iconic label. YK Osiris also revealed he celebrated by going to the Louis Vuitton store.
