Young Thug Allowed To Remain Free After Drug Charges

Young Thug will remain on the streets, for now.

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Young Thug will remain free on bond until he stands trial for felony drug and gun charges.

The hip-hop star, real name Jeffery Williams, turned himself in to police last week after being slapped with five extra counts relating to an arrest in Georgia back in 2017.

He was released on bond after he was booked for a total of eight charges, including possession and intent to distribute methamphetamine, marijuana, and hydrocodone, along with possession of amphetamine, alprazolam, and codeine, and possession of a firearm.

The news of the additional felonies emerged days after the "Pick Up the Phone" rapper was taken into custody for gun possession following a traffic incident in August, which occurred as he prepared to celebrate his 27th birthday at his Slime Language album listening party in Hollywood.

Prosecutors highlighted the summer incident in a court motion seeking to have Young Thug's bond revoked, arguing he should be locked up to avoid continued lawbreaking.

Authorities wanted Young Thug held in custody until his drug and gun case was brought to trial, but their efforts were denied by a Georgia judge during a hearing earlier this week.

Young Thug is due in court for his arraignment in November 18.
