Zulu Nation Celebrates Hip-Hop's 28th Anniversary

The Universal Zulu Nation will celebrate the

official anniversary of hip-hop culture November 8-10 in New York City. The

annual event is recognized throughout the world as the longest running tribute

to hip-hop music and attracts thousands of visitors from around the world.

The event pays homage not only to hip-hop, but

to the pioneers and contemporaries who take the music and culture to new levels.

This year the event will honor funk legends James Brown, Sly & The Family

Stone and George Clinton, who have been a staple in hip-hop through sampling

for years. The event will also honor hip-hop legends Afrika Bambaataa, Kool

DJ Herc and Grand Master Flash.

A "Meeting Of The Minds" panel will

be held to discuss the potential of hip-hop becoming a political movement. Such

notables as Rosa Clemente, legendary photographer Ernie Pannicioli, Chicago

Zulu chapter member Cashus-D and Martha Diaz will speak during the panel.

Such artists as Black Moon, The Beatnuts, Chubb

Rock, The Cold Crush Brothers and The Crash Crew will perform during the celebration.

There will also be an aerosol art exhibit, breakdancing competitions, award

ceremonies and more. The full itinerary is below:
