Peace y'all, it's your boy Johnny Fastlane here with AllHipHop.com

So KRS-One launches a series to celebrate the 50th year of hip-hop
0:08
Let's talk hip-hop. Aight, yo, this is pretty dope, right? Because KRS-One is launching a series to commemorate and celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, right
0:20
So it all starts with his website, which is going to launch on April 25th called Birthplaceofhiphop.nyc, right
0:27
There you're going to be able to register for a bunch of classes. You're also going to be able to enter a competition to create a logo for KRS's series, right
0:37
And so this series will be live streamed on the website, but also it's all going to be
0:43
in person at 1520 Sedgwick, which is in the Bronx, which is the actual physical birthplace
0:48
of hip-hop itself back in 1973, right? Fifty years ago, right? So the whole situation, man, on April 11th, 1973, DJ Kool Herc put some speakers together
1:01
and created hip-hop. He was chika chika and all of that. So I'm sure on April 11th, it's going to be the 50th birthday and it's going to be crazy
1:09
but all around the city, people have been celebrating it all year. And this is KRS-One's answer to celebrating it as well, right
1:18
So it's going to be fire. He's going to be the one teaching all the classes at 1520 Sedgwick during this time
1:26
And like I said, we'll be able to stream it online as well, right? I mean, there's competitions for the kids and all kinds of cool, dope things
1:32
And what he basically wants to do is just try to bridge the gap between the old school
1:36
and the new school. He does want to talk about the history of hip-hop, but he also says he wants to talk
1:41
about hip-hop, how it is now, how it changed, and how young kids today still use an old
1:47
tradition to tell their story, right? So I think that's pretty fire, man
1:51
And of course, KRS-One would be the one to do this, right? Let me know what y'all think about this in the comments
