Little Mermaid makes $163M opening weekend

So, the Little Mermaid makes $165 million in just four days. Let's talk hip hop

All right, yo, this situation is crazy, right? Because the Little Mermaid made $163 million

on Memorial Day weekend, man. Y'all know the whole situation. This is the live action version

of the Little Mermaid. And Hailey Bailey, an R&B singer and actress, is playing Ariel, right

At first, a bunch of people were upset that Ariel was going to be played by a black person

because historically, they say Ariel is supposed to be white, even though Ariel is a fictional

character, right? Either way, man, the whole situation is because of that, a lot of black

folks decided that they're going to fight back against that by going to the movies to see this

thing and showing their support for Hailey Bailey, right? So, they did, man. I'm talking about Jack

and Jill, a bunch of sororities, even the Deltas rented out Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn, New York

right? There were so many people over the weekend that went to go see it that really

in the first three days, they made $95 million. And then in the first four days, Friday, Saturday

Sunday, and Monday, they made $115 million plus. Thinking about all the money that they're going

to be making overseas, it bumps it up to about $165 million. So, it is crazy, man, letting Disney

know that they definitely made a great decision by putting Hailey Bailey in there and making Ariel

black, right? Anytime a company does that, black folks do support. I mean, the money's going to

Disney anyway, but at least we're showing that representation really matters, right? But yeah
