Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay Buys Beyonce An ISLAND? Mashonda Dimes Alicia Out! Nicki Minaj Signs A Booty!

DISCLAIMER:All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.WHO: illseedWHAT: Rumors, Funnies, Fails and more!WHERE: illseed.comtwitter.com.illseedHOW: Send your rumors, sightings and ill pics to illseed at [email protected]. ALICIA KEYS ASKED MASHONDA’S SON TO CALL HER MOMMY?

Mashonda’s holding nothing back. I won’t even try to explain. Just read the latest from Sister 2 Sister magazine. Oh boy, I wonder what magic A. Keys PR will pull off this time.

S2S: Were you guys dating other people before he got with Alicia? Were you guys separated?

Mashonda: We were married. Sleeping in the same bed and having sex every night while he was seeing Alicia. Okay? It was an affair. 100 percent. I don’t know why people want to change that rule so much. We had just had a kid, for crying out loud. Our child was 8 months. I found out about Alicia two days before my son turned 1. They had been doing their thing for months before that.S2S: You said that Alicia wanted your baby to call her “mommy”. How do you know that she said that??Mashonda: My son told me.

S2S: And you told her that is not going to happen??Mashonda: Yeah. I sent her an email and asked her to please respect what I am to him and it’s not right for her to think that is okay. She never replied. She doesn’t reply to me. She has never given me that respect.

S2S: What does Swizz say??Mashonda: He said okay, he would stop it. He wouldn’t let her do it.

S2S: That would be kind of confusing for the child.?Mashonda: Oh, it is. It is so unfair to the child. I have been in contact with the little girls mother (the woman in England who has Swizz’s baby). She’s a young girl. She’s a spiritual girl. She apologized to me… I don’t even judge her. I can’t. She’s totally different than the other one. This other one knew. Alicia knew about me 100 percent. Swizz introduced me at prior events. They were signed to the same record company. She knew. And I emailed her and asked her to stop doing what she was doing and she disregarded me. Just like she disregarded me when I asked her to not have my son thinking it was okay to call her “umi.” You’re not his umi. You just met my son.

S2S: “Umi” is like “mommy”??Mashonda: “Umi” means “mommy” in Arabic. I’m like no. And then after I spoke to the lady in London, she told me that she tried to get her daughter to call her “umi” as well.

S2S: She’s met the lady in London??Mashonda: Yes. I’m glad she’s having her own child now because now she will have someone to call her “umi”.

S2S: Wow.?Mashonda: Like, if you want to be a stepmother, that’s great. Be a stepmother. But don’t think that it’s okay to make a kid call you “umi” or “mommy.”

MEANWHILE…

These two were seen in NYC looking happier than two fat girls at an all you can eat spot.

THE GAME AND MICKEY

The Game took his sons to Disneyland in Cali. Don’t they look happy?

JAY-Z BUYS BEYONCE AND ISLAND?

Did any of you hear this? What the hell! Jay-Z is doing it crazy big. Apparently, dude went and bought an entire island for Beyonce. The mainstream outlets were saying he got a A 12.5 acre tropical island that is only accessible via helicopter or yacht. That means Beanie Sigel probably won’t be popping up. Bad joke.

NICKI MINAJ TALKS “MARRIAGE” TO DRAKE

She had a quick interview with DJ Drama and she explained.

“Don’t be silly. Drake is just my little brother and I kid with him all the time. That’s all. Yes, yes, we were just being crazy and I think we were a little bit bored. I wouldn’t say we were bored, but we were being just mischievous. I did another interview and they asked me and I said, everyday I see things written about me that aren’t true. So I wanted to kinda give the blogs a little bit of payback and put my own story out. [laughs] I don’t date boys, I don’t like boys. [laughs] It’s true — I think boys are yucky and that’s it. There’s nothing more to say.”

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Foxy Brown Wins In Court; Majority Of Charges Tossed

(AllHipHop News) Foxy Brown avoided a jail sentence yesterday when all but one charge against the rapper stemming from a July incident, were dropped. Foxy, born Inga Marchand, was two felony charges and three misdemeanors, but all charges were dismissed expect one.A grand jury charged Foxy with violating a court order that bars her from having contact with her Prospect Heights, Brooklyn neighbor, Arlene Raymond. Foxy and Arlene Raymond have a long history of feuding. In addition to the protection order, the rapper was sentenced to probation from striking Raymond with a Blackberry during an argument in the neighborhood in 2007. As a result Foxy was ordered to stay away from Raymond and was also forced to write a written apology to the woman for assaulting her. They squared off again in Prospect Heights, when Foxy allegedly spewed profanity at Raymond and “mooned” her. If convicted on the one count, Foxy Brown would have to serve community service.

ChartWatch: Eminem Pushes 90k More! Dorrough & K-Rino Break Out New CDs!

ChartWatch for September 8, 2010

So DMX doesn’t

think Plies can rap.  It’s about time

an artist stated their opinion with a name.

Granted, DMX can’t rap anymore (or he can rap and he’s hiding his

abilities really well) but it’s good

to see the opinion out there.

Welcome to ChartWatch where we count down the top sales in

hip Hop and show you the albums dropping this week.  Oh and, as you can see from the opening line,

we occasionally talk about your favorite rapper.  Not every rapper….just the bad ones.  But calm down Plies fans….it’s just jokes.  I guess I probably offended DMX fans as well

with that first line.  Sorry?

By the way, Plies I wouldn’t respond.  I make fun of both of you but we know X can

still rap if given the opportunity.  Don’t

give him the opportunity.

First up is an artist that hasn’t had a problem seizing on

his comeback opportunity.  Eminem holds

strong at the number three spot.   This

week Recovery moves 92,185 copies bringing

Eminem’s total sales for the album to 2,437,182.

He is followed by Drake who jumps up two spots to number

15.  The Canadian rapper’s debut album, Thank Me Later, continues to move units,

adding another 19,559 copies this week to its 1,046,208 total.

Rick Ross falls to 25, selling 15,942 copies of his fourth

album Teflon Don.  So far the Miami MC has moved a total of

368,391 copies.

Fabolous enters the charts at number 32 with his latest There Is No Competition 2: The Grieving Music

Mixtape.  The Brooklyn MC joins the

charts with 12,726 copies sold.

The Black Eyed Peas continue their sales reign this week by

moving 9,628 copies of their fifth studio album, The E.N.D.  That might not

seem like much but the group’s total sales for the album is 2,750,952.

Finally B.o.B comes in at 47 with his debut The Adventures of Bobby Ray.  The Atlanta MC sells 7,934 copies bringing

his total sales to 363,102.

Dropping This Week

In the words of Scarface, off of his mixtape Dopeboy Music, “Ya’ll sleeping on

K-Rino.”  The Houston rapper, who has

been making music for over 2 decades, drops his latest album this week entitled

Annihilation of the Evil Machine.  This is K-Rino’s 16th solo album

and if that’s not enough he has a countless number of compilations and mixtapes.  For those that don’t know or just want to

take a listen you can pretty much find this whole album on YouTube.  Take a listen and then go support the music.

Keeping it in Texas is Dallas rapper Dorrough who returns

with his second album Get Big.  The rapper’s second studio album contains

production work from Nitti, Mouse, Raw Smoov and Drumma Boy with guest appearances

from Juvenile, Yo Gotti, Ray J, Jim Jones, and Slim Thug.

Is anybody here familiar with Blue Sky Black Death?  They are a production duo out of Seattle and

San Francisco that have created some incredible albums like Razah’s Ladder with

Wu affiliate Hell Razah and The Evil

Jeanius  with Jean Grae. That second

album should be noted because it caused a slight underground controversy.  Jean did not record for this album.  BSBD just used her prerecorded verses and

crafted beats around it.  That’s didn’t

make Jean happy but it does give fans a chance to hear songs like “Threats”,  “Light’s Out”, and “It’s Still A Love Song”.  The duo releases their 11thThird Party. album

this week entitled

That’s it for ChartWatch this week.  Buy (download) an album.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Rich Boy’s Problem! Taylor Swift Working Together! Tiny Denies Meth!

DISCLAIMER:All

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.WHO: illseedWHAT: Rumors, Funnies, Fails and more!WHERE: illseed.comtwitter.com.illseedHOW: Send your rumors, sightings and ill pics to illseed at [email protected]. I’M SORRY, RICH BOY!

I had to. I allowed the whole world to talk about this so I am certainly dead last. But, there is a terrible rumor that Rich Boy has herpes. Now, this is the picture that is going around.

The boy. I feel for him, because that’s a bad tag to carry around, but he shouldn’t have allowed his picture to be taken! Anyway, I am about sure that I am the last person to cover it when I could have been one of the first.

While I’m at it, I thought I would also show you Rich Boy falling off stage.

DOES IT MATTER? JAY-Z VS BEANIE.

One of my readers ask me about Jay-Z versus Beanie and why I didn’t mention that Jay was taking shots at Beans on “Monster.” Here is what Jay-Z said.

“Everybody wanna know what my achilles heel is/LOVE I dont get enough of it/All I get is these vampires and blood suckers/All I see is these n-ggas Ive made millionnaires/Milling about spilling there FEELINGS IN THE AIR/All I see is these fake f-cks with no fangs/Tryna draw blood with my… ice cold veins/I SMELL A MASSACRE/Seems to be the only way to back you bastards up”

Does it matter if Jay says it he doesn’t mention Beans’ name? Maybe this is the set up for the new album, where he was go into “massacre mode.” I don’t know. I just wasn’t moved to write about it since Jay wasn’t naming names. LIL WAYNE’S GIRLS

Fellas, who wins the smash-test? LMAO! OK, that was corny. Sorry. Goodbye. (They both look great!)

Here is the new song by Shanell, featuring Nicki Minaj. Very Prince-like.

TAYLOR SWIFT DIDN’T APPRECIATE KANYE’S “SHORRY?”

Kanye said sorry AGAIN, but rumor has it, Taylor Swift is p##### off at him. A source said:

“Taylor is furious that Kanye keeps discussing the VMAs incident, she’s fed up of hearing about it and is disgusted that he has the cheek to use her name to promote his new album! Taylor has moved on from the incident and is hoping Kanye will – eventually – do the same.”

1520 Sedgwick, Birthplace of Hip-Hop Saved By $5.6 Million Loan

(AllHipHop News) A building that is recognized as a Hip-Hop landmark in the South Bronx has been rescued by a federal loan that will halt the building’s sale, allowing the rents to stay affordable to its hundreds of tenants. DJ Kool Herc and Senator Charles Schumer led a campaign to stop the sale of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue from being to private investors, who planned on raising the rents and selling the property, which would have displaced many of the building’s current occupants. Additionally, the  building is recognized as the place Hip-Hop music was born, when Kool Herc hosted a legendary party inside the building’s recreational room in August of 1973. The building received $5.6 million in financing through Mayor Bloomberg’s New Housing Marketplace Place plan, which was created to assist physically and financially stressed multifamily buildings throughout the city. In 2011, $3 million has been committed to make much needed repairs to 1520 Sedgwick Avenue. “This is a huge victory for Sedgwick residents that will serve as a model for preserving affordable housing throughout New York City,” said Senator Schumer. “The message here is clear, residents of 1520 Sedgwick, and residents of affordable buildings throughout the City, should not be used as pawns for predatory equity investors to make quick profits. The purchase of this note is a major milestone that we hope will be a big win for residents of Sedgwick.”City Council Speaker Christine Quinn acknowledged 1520’s contribution to the world and as grateful the building had been saved from unscrupulous speculators, who simply planned to buy the building to flip it. “Three decades ago, DJ Kool Herc mixed funk songs with African beats and rap, and hip-hop was born during a house concert in the basements of 1520 Sedgwick,” said Speaker Christine Quinn. “Hip-hop has often been an expression of hardships and 1520 Sedgwick has seen its fair share of struggles. After the fiscal crisis, 1520 Sedgwick became a victim of predatory equity investors, and we were at risk of losing a historical and cultural landmark. But with this purchase and $3 million of Council funding for repairs, we will now see the rebirth of 1520 Sedgwick – and maybe see history created once again. I’m particularly excited that this will give tenants a chance to recreate their homes, not to mention the possibility of one day converting the building into a co-op.”

WWWD? (What Will Weezy Do?)

This is one of my most serious editorials that I’ve ever penned. It’s very serious because it deals with people’s lives and whether or not they’ll choose to live or die. In writing this piece, I have to reflect back on the lives of other men who found themselves in similar situations and use them as a basis to consider life or death. The men in reference are Pimp C, ODB and T.I.P. Please allow me to state that this is written in the utmost respect of the lives of the men mentioned, not to be disrespectful or distasteful to them, their legacies or their families. Hopefully someone’s life will be saved. With that said, when I think of the untimely demise of Pimp C and ODB, both dead less than two years upon their release from incarceration, and the mishap that T.I. has placed himself in less than six months of release from lock up, I think to myself, WWWD, What Will Weezy Do when he finally touches down?

By the time Lil Wayne is released from Rikers Island on November 4, 2010, he would have spent a total of ten months incarcerated. That’s only assuming that he does come home because tomorrow isn’t promised on the streets and definitely not while in prison. Prayerfully he does complete his last two months of his sentence and make it off of the island, safely. By doing so, he would have accomplished one task and that’s physically surviving prison; however, the most difficult and daunting task still awaits him and that would be, surviving and readjusting to life after prison, especially as a rich and successful rap artist with noted drug concerns.

My father has been a substance abuser my entire life and on the 28th of this month, God willing, I’ll be 37-years-old. It goes without saying that due to his addiction my life has been impacted in immeasurable ways. Yet and still, I love my father to death though oftentimes I admit resentment and animosity towards him because of my interpretation of him choosing drugs over me. I doubt very seriously if children of rich and successful stars will grow up to feel any differently from me. Still I trudge on, but if you only knew my pain.

When Pimp C died due to reported use of codeine and promethazine, while combating sleep apnea, I was saddened by his loss, but felt more for his loved ones who would have to trudge on without him. When ODB died due to reported use of cocaine and the prescription drug Tramadol, again, I was saddened by his loss, but felt more for his loved ones who would have to trudge on without him. When T.I. and his wife Tiny were just arrested on suspicions of possessing ecstasy, after being pulled over by police officers who also reported smelling a strong scent of marijuana coming from their car, initially it was hard to feel sympathy towards them, but immediately I felt sorrow for how their actions would negatively impact their children and the rest of their family. Two died from their actions, while the other is tethering on killing his career, risking his freedom and more importantly impacting the lives of his children in immeasurable ways. And while it appears to me that all of this could have been prevented I ask, why choose the things that could kill you, literally and/or figuratively?

Upon hearing the news of T.I.’s arrest last week, my middle school students initiated a conversation with me asking “why would T.I. do that after he beat the gun charges?” I was dumbfounded and baffled myself; I could not do anything, but speculate at his reasoning. Then one of my students said, “Mr. Dews, maybe he’s addicted.” To which he’s probably correct because it has to be something more potent than logic that will make a person jeopardize his and his loved ones life. Then immediately I recalled this Jay-Z line “I hope you don’t think users are the only abusers.” Though many of these celebrities would not consider themselves addicts, I interpreted the quote and its application to T.I. to mean the attraction of the “rap” game, the lifestyle it affords you, the luxuries, the sense of entitlement awarded to its participants and all of the other entrapments that leads to clouded and skewed thinking, which in turn leads to unwanted, but inescapable demise. Such actions are the equivalent to arresting a career drug dealer. When asked “what are you going to do after being allowed to re-enter into society”? They give their sentencing judge, PO’s, and probation officers the right answer “After paying my debt to society, I intend to make a positive contribution to the world.” And before departing, they give the infamous “Don’t worry, you won’t see me again” speech. But to their homeboys whom they left on the block, that continued to engage in the same activities, when they ask “boy, what you trying do when you get out?” They give an honest answer, “you already know,” without hesitation. Many then proceed to do what they’re addicted to doing. In most cases, it’s the same things that they did prior to their incarceration.

Honestly, that’s my fear for Lil Wayne. Based on his own account and admission, he’s a substance abuser and maybe of all rappers, he lives most like a rock star. He smokes marijuana in abundance and has been reported in indulging himself with drinking codeine and promethazine on the regular. His system should be fairly clean from his stint on the island. My concern is that if he attempts to partake in the same over exuberant lifestyle that he led prior to going to prison upon his return home, it could cause his body to go into complete shock, which could be detrimental. Oftentimes, people will try to go even harder than they did before jail, after returning home. Almost in an attempt to make up for the time they were away. Or maybe it’s an attempt to mentally deal with everything that transpired in their life and to those whom their decisions affected while they were incarcerated. Who knows? In this case, only Wayne does. For the rest of us, we’re left to wait and see WWWD?

Foxy Brown In Court Today To Be Arraigned Over July Incidents

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn rapper Foxy Brown is due in court today (September 7th), where she will be formally arraigned on charges that she violated a protection order against her Brooklyn neighbor. The rapper is expected to appear in Brooklyn Criminal Court, where she will be charged with criminal contempt, for allegedly violating a protection order filed by Arlene Raymond.  Foxy Brown was serving probation, after pleading guilty in 2008 to assaulting Raymond with a Blackberry during a dispute in their Prospect Heights, Brooklyn neighborhood in 2007. The rapper, born Inga Marchand, was also ordered to have no contact with Raymond. Brown allegedly violated the Judge’s decree when she called Raymond a “b**ch” and allegedly mooned her during their latest squabble, which occurred in July of 2010. The following week, Foxy Brown also allegedly became involved in a physical altercation with her manager Bernadette Brennan, in the lobby of a Manhattan high-rise. In August, Foxy was called to testify before a grand jury for nearly three-hours, in regards to the incidents, in which she denied the allegations. Foxy is expected to be released today immediately following the hearing, because she already paid the $5,000 bail after her initial arrest. If she is found guilty, Foxy Brown coulees be sent to prison for a year.

Estelle Busy Prepping New Album, Wants Ghostface Killah

(AllHipHop News) Singer/Songwriter/MC Estelle is currently in the studio putting the final touches on her new album All of Me, which is slated to hit stores later this fall.  “I’m nearly done, I wanted to put it out in September, but then I had another idea,” said Estelle. “So I went back and said let me start recording some more things. I think I have another two weeks of recording, then we’ll go ahead start mixing it, and then get it out, she said.”Estelle first began buzzing in the U.K. before catching the attention of R&B singer John Legend who he signed her as the first artist on his Homeschool label, distributed by Atlantic Records. Estelle’s 2008 album Shine spawned the hit record “American Boy” featuring Kanye West. The record garnered Estelle various award nominations including the win for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2009 Grammys.Earlier this year Estelle released the record “Freak” featuring Kardinal Offishall, which was initially supposed to be her first single off the new album. The follow-up and her current single from All of Me is “Fall in Love” featuring Queens rapper Nas.Estelle is very excited about her new project and is still in the process of racking up features. “It’s too many people, so many people that I remember owe me features right now,” she said. “Hopefully I want to get Ghost Face Killah on the album, we talked about some stuff. I’m featured on his last album, so I want to get back up with him. There’s a song I just wrote the other day that I want to get Mr Hudson on and we’ve been speaking about working together. The way I work is like, do the record and then I’ll pull people in. So I’m at that point of pulling people in now, said Estelle.”
