Iranian Rapper Toomaj Salehi Allegedly Physically Tortured By Government Over Song

While Americans are questioning if Kanye West has the right to freedom of speech, an Iranian rapper has just been physically tortured by the government for his songs of protest and his activism after a young woman was murdered by the police for not wearing a hijab.

According to India Today, the famous rapper and activist Toomaj Salehi was arrested by Iranian security forces for being an anti-hijab protester.

Sources say the rapper, who has over 700,000 followers on Instagram, was taken to an undisclosed location by troops, detaining him while he tried to cross the country’s western borders.

Family members of the artist have denied that this is true.

They allege the political artist was located in the southwestern provinces of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari when he was arrested.

Salehi is also not being treated well, the family relayed to the press.

The rapper’s uncle Eghbal Eghbali revealed on Instagram that Toomaj is currently a victim of the government’s “cruelest methods of torture.”

He asked the Iranian people and the international community to bring justice to Salehi, fearing his life was in danger and that he could be killed due to his political views.

Toomaj Salehi had frequently spoken out against Iranian officials on his platform, sources say, and standing in support of the national protests over the last few weeks over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman.

Amini died on September 16th, 2022, in a hospital in Tehran. The Guidance Patrol, aka the “morality police,” arrested Amini for not wearing a hijab in public.

The police claimed she had a heart attack and slipped into a coma. However, witnesses and two of her friends who were with her when she was detained said Amini was severely beaten by officers with The Guidance Patrol.

An independent autopsy concluded Amini died of a cerebral hemorrhage. The news set off the largest protests in the country since 2009. Unfortunately, the Iranian regime has targeted the protesters with extreme violence.

According to human rights watch groups, over 300 people, including over 20 children, have been killed by security forces since the protests started in September.

Kathy Griffin Booted From Twitter For Impersonating Elon Musk

Kathy Griffin was suspended from Twitter on Sunday for impersonating the site’s new owner Elon Musk.

The comedian was banned from Twitter after she changed her display name to “Elon Musk” and therefore violated the rules surrounding impersonation.

Earlier that evening, the tech billionaire – who officially became the owner of Twitter last month – issued a warning about impersonation.

“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” he wrote. “Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning… Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark.”

However, the 62-year-old swiftly evaded the ban by using her late mother Maggie’s Twitter account instead.

“I’m back from the grave to say… #FreeKathy,” she wrote, before clarifying to a user: “Oh by the way this is KG. I’m tweeting from my dead mother’s account. She would not mind. #FreeKathy.”

She added, “My wonderful mother had an account that I ran for her. She passed away, but I always kept the account. Trust me, she would be with me on this. Relax. #FreeKathy.”

Musk later responded to a tweet about Griffin’s suspension by joking, “Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian… But if she really wants her account back, she can have it… For $8.”

Griffin then accused him of stealing a joke with his first tweet and added, “Look, please do a better job running this company. It used to mean something. This is KG btw.”

Last week, Musk introduced Twitter Blue, which costs $8 per month and allows anyone to buy a verified blue checkmark.

Meet SoGaudy: The Artist Next Up From Las Vegas

SoGaudy is here to put on for his hometown of Las Vegas, using his music as motivation for audiences all across the world to go out and go after their wildest dreams. Coming from a family of legacy musicians, SoGaudy is excited to be writing his own path.

In describing himself, SoGaudy states he’s “a turnt up artist who does what he wants. Who works hard, doesn’t really take too much b#######. Loves making music, loves making money, loves being on the grind. Don’t ever stop, that’s SoGaudy for you.”

On his newest single and visual titled “Oh Well,” SoGaudy sings on the chorus, “I came up from having nothing, oh well. I turned nothing into something, oh well. I came from the bottom, f### it oh well. Now I’m flying through the sky like oh well.”

The visual is directed by LouieKnows, as SoGaudy is seen bringing the song to life amidst some epic Los Angeles views while chronicling his ascent in the music industry. And if there’s one thing you need to know? His sound is unique and unlike anyone else’s.

He explains, “I don’t listen to too many other artists so I’m not a replica of nobody else, the SoGaudy sound is just SoGaudy.”

AllHipHop spoke with SoGaudy via FaceTime to discuss his roots in Vegas, his Top 5, being a businessman, his name, “Oh Well,” goals, and more!

AllHipHop: You’re from Las Vegas, what was that like growing up?

SoGaudy: Vegas is a fast city. Vegas is a city of hustlers, a city of people who if you don’t put your foot on the ground, you’re gonna be walked over. Out here, you gotta stay on your hustle to get what you want. Vegas is real fast, I’ll say that much.

AllHipHop: Talk about coming from a legacy of musicians in your family.

SoGaudy: I’ve been involved in music my whole life. My grandfather was an opera singer out of South America. Big time, big name. My mother’s mom was a big time piano player in France. My father comes from music. My parents are a lot older. My father’s 78, my mother’s in her late 60’s. My father used to work with Jimi Hendrix back in the day, toured with him. I’ve been surrounded by music my whole life. It’s something I came up in. As a youngin’ up, it’s always been a part of me. Music and me are just one.

AllHipHop: Who’s your Top 5 all-time?

SoGaudy: People I like the most: Biggie, Wiz Khalifa, DMX. I really mess with Bone Thugs, and Ice Cube.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize this music thing was forreal?

SoGaudy: It always seemed like music could be something that I could make a future from. Music never seemed like it’d be so easy to get into. Just because I wanted to do music and wanted it to be my future, I mean yeah I’ve always wanted that. But I’m a keep it real, it didn’t seem it was always something that I could make my future. I had to work hard at it.

AllHipHop: What were you doing before music?

SoGaudy: I’m a business entrepreneur. I own a music studio, I have my own brand. I have my own clothing line, I have my own weed brand. I’m a hustler, so I got a few different things that I’ve always worked on. I’ve always worked on more than a few, not just settled my mind on just one.

AllHipHop: What was the inspiration behind your name?

SoGaudy: To be real with you, one of my homeboys named me SoGaudy because I’ve always been a real chain wearing, diamond wearing, big rings… I’ve always been real bright of a person. A lot of ice. I don’t really come from that genre of kids that’s ever wore fake jewelry. I’ve always worked hard and spent big money on anything I had. I got my name when I was about 17 or18 years old.

AllHipHop: You just released “Oh Well,” who or what inspired this record?

SoGaudy: What inspired “Oh Well” is honestly all the b####### that we go through in life, our ups our downs. At the end of the day, just having an understanding that nothing’s ever gonna stop. You gotta always keep on going. If you sit on some b#######, you’ll never get past it. F### it, oh well. I’m a keep on pushing and keep going.

AllHipHop: LouieKnows is my guy, talk about linking with him on the video.

SoGaudy: I’ve been f###### with LouieKnows since he was working with Jonathan and Ace, back in the day with blkdmnds. If you go back and look at some of my old old videos, you’ll see I used to shoot with Jonathan Andrioli. Ace used to do all my photos, that’s honestly how I met Louie back in the day. Louie t shoots real dope videos, I like his visuals. I like how he puts his s### together. Not only that, Louie shoots some of the biggest artists right now in the game. I’d be a fool to not go and f### with Louie.

AllHipHop: Best part of the video shoot?

SoGaudy: The plane scenes were dope.

AllHipHop: What is it you want fans to get from your story?

SoGaudy: To never give up. If you got a dream and you’re working hard on it, to go hard and don’t stop. Don’t let nothing discourage you. Keep going until the wheels fall off, you’re gonna get what you want.

AllHipHop: 3 things in the studio?

SoGaudy: Weed, water, and good beats.

AllHipHop: What’s an average day in the life of SoGaudy?

SoGaudy: An average day in the life of SoGaudy is nothing but filled with work, nonstop phone calls, and keeping s### organized. I’ll be honest: every day I wake up, I take myself to the gym. I got my engineers with me in my studio right now. Right now, we’re mixing up the new GRE project I’m about to release with all GRE artists. Get Right Entertainment, that’s my label.

My day is filled up, I’m in the studio everyday. But if I’m not making music, I’m printing clothing. These are some of my ski masks, some of my sweatsuits. I’m selling these off to my other boy, I’m always doing something. My days are filled with nonstop work.

AllHipHop: Goals for yourself?

SoGaudy: I have major goals. My first goal is to honestly shoot to the moon with this music, come out with dope world-changing music and to try to do something different. Changing the world obviously. I’ve already changed my life and my ways so really making music for me, another success that’s brought me to landing one of my main dreams that I’ve always wanted. Landing that and handling it how I need to handle it. Third, really to keep succeeding and living life. And positive things keep happening for me.

Britney Spears Says She Has Nerve Damage Impacting Her Head

Britney Spears told followers she has nerve damage on the right side of her body.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the “Hold Me Closer” singer revealed she has nerve damage.

In a caption of a video of herself dancing, Britney wrote, “there’s no cure except God” for the nerve damage she incurred, though she didn’t specify the incident that caused it.

“Nerve damage is caused sometimes when you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain,” she said. “Your brain literally shuts down.”

Calling it an “old story,” Britney referenced “in that place where I didn’t breathe,” seemingly referring to the medical facility she was brought to against her will in 2019.

“The last 3 years since I got out of that place I’ve been in a mild unconscious state,” the singer wrote. “I couldn’t face it.”

How the facility connects to Britney’s nerve damage is unclear.

Elsewhere in the post, Britney detailed the symptoms of her condition, writing, “Nerve damage causes parts of your body to go numb. I wake up like 3 times a week in bed and my hands are completely numb.

“Nerves are tiny and it feels like pins and needles from the right side of my body it shoots (sic) up to my neck and the part that hurts the worst is my temple on my head… it stings and it’s scary.”

Michael B. Jordan Is Down To Return To Marvel Cinematic Universe

Michael B. Jordan is open to making a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The “Creed” actor portrayed Erik ‘Killmonger’ Stevens in the 2018 superhero movie “Black Panther,” though his character ended up meeting his demise.

But in an interview with Extra, Michael shared that he is interested in taking on another role within the comic book-inspired franchise.

“I don’t know if it’s a possibility… Being able to be in the Marvel Universe was a dream come true, and if there was an opportunity for me to come back, of course, I would… I’m not one of those guys like, ‘No, I would never,'” he told the outlet. “Working with Ryan (Coogler, director) what we did on that first project, and what Marvel does as a whole, is something that as a fan and a nerd and as a geek that I am, I just love to see those movies and those characters come to life.”

Michael has made his directorial debut with the upcoming sports drama “Creed III,” in which he also reprises the part of Adonis’ Donnie’ Creed.

And he is glad he took the opportunity to helm the project after being inspired by his collaborations with “Fruitvale Station” filmmaker Ryan.

“I think the more I’ve been on sets, the more I learn from everybody. All the moving pieces, all the department heads, everything that goes into a film or television show. I think over time, being in front of the camera, you start to have a stronger opinion,” the star continued. “I think just over the years, especially after working with Ryan on our first film Fruitvale Station, think being able to see somebody who looks like me, same age, kind of commanding the set and directing the film, it definitely gave me that kind of feeling that I could do it, too.”

Creed III is set to be released in March 2023.

Pastor Jamal Bryant Says It Time To Save Black Men

Rev. Jamal Bryant, a pastor of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia (close to Atlanta), took to his pulpit with a message to young Black men about violence.

He called the males up to the altar for a prayer that has gone viral.

“Today, I want to pray a hedge fence of protection for our young Black men in this community. I want to ask all of our young Black men to come to the altar, Black men,” said Bryant, according to WSB-TV 2.

The Morehouse graduate presented a powerful message, “I’m afraid that this generation is adjusting to a culture of violence with no redress. This summer and this fall, we lost six rappers to gun violence.”

His remarks come after the tragic death of Atlanta native and Migos founding member, Takeoff. The chart-topper was murdered in Texas earlier in the month.

“Yet, we wonder why our young people are under distress, anxiety, under depression, because all of the people they look up to are now falling below zero,” said Bryant. “Y’all better shout for these young men. Come on, you better shout for these business leaders. Would you open up your young men? These young men are going to change the world.”

“Now I want all Black men to come to the altar and surround our boys,” he also said.

“I believe that prayer works,” the preacher said. “But Fredrick Douglas said I got more prayers answered when I got my off my knees. I think prayer is the beginning, but an actionable executable plan has to come behind it.”

Snoop Dogg Denies Smoking Over 450,000 Blunts And Disses His “Professional Blunt Roller”

Snoop Dogg denied a claim that he smokes the equivalent of 75-150 blunts every day.

The “Gin and Juice” rapper shared a post reporting he smokes “roughly 75-150 joints a day” on his Instagram.

The post referenced Renegade Piranha, who identifies herself as Snoop’s “professional blunt roller.” During an appearance on “The Kyle and Jackie-O Show,” Renegade said the rapper smokes half a pound of weed every day, and that she had twisted 450,000 blunts since taking the job in 2016.

The video features ten half-used joints lying on a table.

“B#### said I smoke… b####, this is all in a day’s work. Stop lying,” Snoop can be heard saying in the video. “F### I’m a smoke all that weed in one day. What am I, a f###### machine?”

He continued, “B####, this is the roaches. See… roaches.”

In 2013, Snoop wrote on Twitter that he smokes 81 blunts in a day.

During a 2019 appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” he confirmed that he has a “professional blunt roller,” saying, “That’s his J-O-B – his occupation… On his resume, it says, ‘What do you do? I’m a blunt roller. P-B-R, Professional Blunt Roller.'”

In June, the rapper responded to a tweet from UberFacts saying his PBR had been given a raise due to inflation.

Lil Wayne: Packers Should’ve Gotten Rid Of Aaron Rodgers Before 2022 Season

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a poor showing in his team’s November 6 game against the Detroit Lions. Longtime Packers fan Lil Wayne appears to be over Rodgers’s run as Green Bay’s on-field leader.

Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions during yesterday’s game. Wayne’s favorite NFL franchise suffered a 15-9 loss to the Lions which dropped the Packers to a 3-6 record.

“GO PACK GO!!!!!” tweeted Lil Wayne on Sunday morning. He returned to the social media platform around 4:15 pm ET to add, “RIP to the season we should’ve gotten rid of 12 before the season.”

The Packers have lost five games in a row. The Matt LaFleur-coached squad still sits in second place in the National Football Conference’s NFC North division behind the Minnesota Vikings (7-1).

Aaron Rodgers has played for the Packers for his entire NFL career. The Super Bowl Champion and four-time NFL MVP presently has a 36.3 quarterback rating for the 2022 season. That QBR stat puts him in 27th place among quarterbacks this season.

Louisiana–raised Lil Wayne explained his love for the Packers stems from his father attending Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans. The Packers defeated the New England Patriots for the NFL Championship at that 1997 game.

In 2011, Lil Wayne released “Green & Yellow” as the Packers headed into Super Bowl XLV to face the Pittsburgh Steelers. Aaron Rodgers and the Pack outlasted the Steelers by winning SBXLV 31 to 25. The NFL presented Rodgers with the Super Bowl MVP trophy that year.

Despite blasting Aaron Rodgers’s disappointing season, Lil Wayne is a devoted sports fan. The Young Money frontman has made numerous appearances on ESPN and Fox Sports 1. In July, Wayne helped present the Best Team trophy to the Golden State Warriors at the 2022 Espy Awards.

Roddy Ricch Complains About Being Harrassed By Canadian Border Officials

Compton performer Roddy Ricch joined Post Malone for the Twelve Carat Tour of North America. Apparently, Ricch experienced difficulty getting into Canada for the November 6 date in Vancouver.

On Sunday evening, Roddy Ricch took to his Instagram Story to offer an explanation for missing the show at the Rogers Arena. “The Box” hitmaker placed the blame on the Canadian government’s immigration authorities.

“The Federal Border Patrol did not allow me into Vancouver, BC. I apologize to my fans,” posted Roddy Ricch on Instagram. Ricch went on to say that he may not return to Canada in the near future.

The Live Life Fast album creator continued, “I don’t believe I’ll be revisiting Canada anytime soon because they’ve harassed me every time I’ve come and Imma be completely honest, I’m tired of the harassment.”

Earlier this year, New York law enforcement officials detained Roddy Ricch (born Rodrick Moore Jr.) for weapon possession on June 12 outside Citi Field. Ricch was on the lineup for the Governors Ball festival at that venue in Queens before officers took him and two associates into custody.

However, the Queens District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case against Roddy Ricch and his crew for the Governors Ball incident. Ricch later blasted the NYPD at Hot 97’s Summer Jam Concert at MetLife Stadium on June 12.

Roddy Ricch’s Live Life Fast album dropped on December 17, 2021. The studio LP debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart by earning 62,000 first-week units. Ricch plans to gift his fans with the Feed Tha Streets 3 mixtape on November 18.

The 38-year-old entertainer took to Twitter over the weekend to provide more details about his music career. Apparently, Kid Cudi is on the verge of parting ways with Republic Records.

First-Week Sales Projections For Drake & 21 Savage’s ‘Her Loss’ Are In

Toronto-bred rapper Drake and Atlanta-bred rapper 21 Savage united for the newly released Her Loss album. The collaborative project landed on Friday, November 4.

HitsDailyDouble crunched the projected sales numbers for Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss. The Hip Hop duo should open at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.

According to HDD, Her Loss is presently on pace to pull in 335,000-350,000 first-week units. The website projects Drake and 21 to rack up around 425 million-450 million streams in its first seven days.

Tracks from Her Loss occupied nine of the top 10 spots on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs USA chart for November 5. Over on Apple Music, Drake and 21 Savage dominate the Top 100: USA’s Top 20.

Her Loss arrived with a lot of controversies. In particular, Drake’s decision to suggest Megan Thee Stallion lied about being shot by Tory Lanez on “Circo Loco” angered many social media users.

Her Loss Is Drake’s Third Straight Album To Recieve Mixed Reviews

Drake also took a shot at the husband of his ex-girlfriend Serena Williams on “Middle of the Ocean.” Additionally, fans believe the Canadian rhymer dissed fellow Hip Hop acts Kanye “Ye” West and DRAM on Her Loss.

Those lyrical jabs at Megan, Ye, and others may have turned some listeners off to Her Loss. The album has received mixed reviews from professional music critics. Its Metacritic score presently stands at 57/100 with a user rating of 6.6/10.

Her Loss came after Drake’s polarizing 2022 solo album Honestly, Nevermind dropped in June. The Metacritic user score for Honestly, Nevermind is 4.7/10. 2021’s Certified Lover Boy amassed a 60/100 critic score and a 3.5/10 user score.

Honestly, Nevermind debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 204,000 first-week units. 21 Savage’s 2020 studio LP, Savage Mode II, also launched at #1. That joint effort with producer Metro Boomin brought in 171,000 units in its first tracking week.

Maino Questions Why Amazon Not Held Accountable Over Antisemitic Film But Kyrie Irving Suspended

Maino had some questions concerning the controversy surrounding Kyrie Irving after he shared a link to an antisemitic film hosted on Amazon.

The NYC rapper took to Instagram on Sunday evening (Nov. 6) to address the situation in the wake of Nike suspending their relationship with Kyrie Irving. The news from Nike comes despite the athlete’s lengthy apology. Kyrie also offered a $500,000 donation, and was given a five-game suspension handed down by the Brooklyn Nets.

Maino wants to know why people aren’t keeping the same energy with Amazon.

“So Kyrie Irving is being held for being responsible for a link to a documentary that’s on Amazon and Amazon is a platform that it’s being shared,” Maino questioned. “So he’s being held accountable by Nike and whoever else, but Amazon is not?”

Check out Maino’s comments on Kyrie Irvin and Amazon in full below.

Last week, Kyrie issued an apology after sharing a link to “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.” Like Maino, many wondered whether Amazon would face any consequences for hosting the documentary as Kyrie Irving did for sharing a link to it.

However, according to New York Times, the Brooklyn Nets and the Anti-Defamation League have contacted the retailer. They sent a letter to Amazon asking the company to address the “deeply and unequivocally antisemitic” documentary.

An Amazon spokesman said the company is exploring adding a disclaimer to the film. Anyone buying or renting the documentary or the book the film is based on would see the potential disclaimer.

During the post-game press conference, LeBron James shared what Takeoff meant to him, revealing he’s been a Migos fan for “so long.”

“I was listening to those guys my first year with the Heat in 2010. You can ask any one of my teammates back then, they had no idea who the Migos was… I was like ‘I’m telling you these guys are next.'”

He also sent his condolences to Migos, the whole QC family, the Hip-Hop community, and everyone Takeoff touched with his music.

“It’s another hit for our community,” he said before expressing his sadness at losing another Hip-Hop icon. “Every time we get a good moment, we lose another one.”

LeBron James explained to the reporters, Takeoff was the most “quiet, chilled, in the back, ‘don’t want no problems’ type of guy.”

“It’s just another senseless act of gun violence,” he said, adding, “He’s in a better place.”

He also changed his profile picture to one of Takeoff in another tribute to the late rapper.

Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, was killed in a shooting outside a Houston bowling alley early Tuesday morning (Nov. 1). He was shot multiple times. Harris County Medical Examiner lists Takeoff’s primary cause of death as “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm.”

Earlier this year, Lil Wayne showed his reverence for Missy Elliott, naming her first among his Top 5 emcees, dead or alive.

“For me, it’s always going to be first, Missy Elliott. She’s a huge influence on everything I’ve ever done. Jay-Z is the best to ever speak,” Lil Wayne told Nick Wright in May. “And Biggie, obviously. Then, as a whole, I have Goodie Mob. Then I have UGK.”

Missy returned the love and expressed her honor at being named among Wayne’s greatest.

“Whenever [Lil Wayne] says my name in his interviews Twitter don’t have enough space for me to say my GRATEFULNESS because he is a LEGEND himself who birthed many emcees after him🙌🏾& as a man to acknowledge me as a big influence 4 him I send you love WAYNE💜,” tweeted Missy.

Earlier this year, Missy Elliott was honored with her own street in her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia, after receiving a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2021. On Saturday, the “Work It” hitmaker also added to her historic accolades with a scarily accurate waxwork at Madame Tussauds.

’90s Rapper Hurricane G Dies From Lung Cancer

UPDATE: Sources have told AllHipHop anonymously that Hurricane G died of lung cancer and was in hospice at the time of her passing.

Gloria “Hurricane G” Rodriguez, a popular East Coast rapper, died Sunday.

EPMD’s Erick Sermon, who shares a daughter with the late rapper, confirmed the sad news on his Tnstagram account.

Hurricane G made several notable appearances with rappers like Redman, Keith Murray, Xzibit, Delinquent Habits, Funkdoobiest, the Cocoa Brovaz, and even Sean “Diddy” Combs. In 1997, she released her first solo album, which was produced by Domingo.

Domingo told AllHipHop that Hurricane G was special.

“Hurricane G was unique and she did hip hop her way with her style. She was one of the truest female rappers that can jump on a song with like Das EFX and keep up with them with her own offbeat in beat flow then do a song dedicated to her mother showing how diverse she could be,” he told AllHipHop. “A truly humble soul outside of music and I am glad I knew both personalities Gloria Rodriguez and Hurricane G.”

A rapper of Puerto Rican descendant, she made her mark with her brash, loud and decided Brooklyn, New York way of communicating.

Many recall when she told Redman to get off that “punk smooth sh#t” on his hit song “Tonight’s Da Night.”

A fixture, Hurricane’s passing – coupled with the death of The Artifacts’s TameOne – was a heavy blow for the culture’s OGs.

“Iconic EMCEES of our time. We Love You Gloria!!!” said DJ Premier.

Steele of Smif-n-Wessun (formerly The Coco Brovas) said, “I didn’t want to believe it when I heard. My sincere condolences to the entire family. My heart is heavy so I can imagine the pain. Prayers of strength and love.”

Rest In Peace, Hurricane G.

Dr. Dre Was Shocked To Learn Eminem Was White; Says Rapper Brought Hip-Hop To Middle America During Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Speech

Dr. Dre inducted Eminem into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame over the weekend.

During a ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday night, the hip-hop mogul took to the stage to introduce the rapper.

“Over 20 years ago, (music producer) Jimmy Iovine played a demo tape for me from a guy who called himself Eminem. The first thing I said when I heard it was, ‘What the f### did he just say?’ I loved it so much, I couldn’t stop listening to it. A few days later, Jimmy called me and said, ‘Hey Dre, you know that’s a white guy, right? That completely f##### me up… it didn’t even cross my mind.”

Despite pushback from his team at the time, Dre recalled how he knew Eminem’s “gifts were undeniable.”

“Each of us was exactly what the other one needed – and I was willing to bet my entire career on it,” Dre continued, adding that the rapper “brought hip-hop to middle America.”

Eminem then performed his hits “Lose Yourself,” “My Name Is,” “Forever,” and “Not Afraid,” among other tracks, with the gig including special appearances from Steven Tyler and Ed Sheeran.

In his acceptance speech, Eminem credited the likes of The Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, Ice Cube, and LL Cool J with paving the way for him to succeed as an artist.

“This s### is crazy. I realize what an honor it is for me to be up here tonight and what a privilege it is to do the music that I love and the music that basically saved my life,” the 50-year-old said. “Those were my rock stars. Those are just a few of the names I hope will be considered in the future for induction because, without them, a lot of us wouldn’t be here.”

Other members of the class of 2022 included Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, and Carly Simon.

The full show will air via HBO on November 19th.
