Meanwhile, Royce Da 5’9″ is the talk of the town with his new song “Tabernacle” and saying Drake’s ghostwriters invalidate him as one of the greats. Anyway, the other members have been active in other ways. Joe has the podcast and dropped an album last year – All Love Lost. Crooked I (KXNG Crooked ) recently released Statik KXNG with producer Statik Selektah. Joell Ortiz just released a full album That’s Hip-Hop with producer Domingo. SOOOOOOOOOO….these incredibly talented dudes cannot get a release date for a group event, but have all these “smaller” project out? Why? I don’t know for certain, but source with AllHipHop say it lies with Eminem’s camp. Word is, Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenburg cannot seem to get an “industry” foothold in for the group to come out. Does that make sense? Basically, the buzz is low. I don’t think this is a case of the album being wack or anything. I personally think that the times have changed and how people see lyricists has changed as well. Others have stated that Jimmy Iovine moving from Interscope to Apple may have some bearing on it too. Lets face it, Eminem is somewhere sitting on half a billion or something, chillin’ and his guys are out here doing it for the culture. Facts.
Hopefully, Slaughterhouse returns in glorious form, but if they don’t, there is PLENTY stuff out there to support RIGHT NOW.
So…check out “Tabernacle.”
