(AllHipHop Rumors) Kendrick Lamar is arguably one of the greatest rappers of this generation as he's a true artist, lyricist, and a rapper's rapper.
No matter what kind of Hip Hop you are a fan of, or even what genre of music you are truly into, it seems like most can agree on Kendrick Lamar.
In a recent cover story interview for Forbes' 30 Under 30' issue, Kendrick chronicles his role as a leader and mentor to the younger rappers coming up after him, as he also honors those who paved the way before him.
As one of the faces of Hip Hop, K. Dot feels that he has a responsibility to never forget his roots and the Hip Hop forefathers that laid the groundwork for him to be here.
K. Dot also acknowledges that he notices the ever-changing landscape and nature of the rap game, and he calls for more people to be inclusive of the artists that may not necessarily fit the mold of true emcees like himself.
"I want Hip Hop to continue to evolve. That's why I can't shun a lot of the artists that may not be a Kendrick Lamar. But this is what I tell them every time I see them... be yourself and do what you do but also know who laid down the groundwork. Don't go on your interviews and diss them and say you don't like them and you don't care for them. That's your opinion, that's cool, but you have to respect them. So talking down on the folks that inspired us to do this, it'd never be right. You dig what I'm saying? So at the end of the day as long as you be who you are but respect what got us here, that's how you continue to evolve," said Kendrick.
I'm so glad Kendrick spoke out to these new artists about this. Not only are most of the new artists trash, but they also are disrespectful! Carry on.
