Oops! The Weeknd may have been the biggest winner last night at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards as well as the biggest nominee, however his excitement lead him to post a misinformed tweet.
The singer was nominated 19 times, and he ended up taking home 8 awards. Abel got carried away with his social media acceptance speech as he tweeted,
“XO we took home 8 ! more than any male artist in history ?? Thank you @billboard.”
Usher’s fans were waiting in the wings to humble him as they reminded him that back in 2004 Usher took home 14 awards. After all, wasn’t ‘Confessions’ amazing! The Weeknd took time out to apologize to Usher as he tweeted,
“Apologize to the OG @Usher , got excited and spoke to soon.??”
