Did Kendrick Lamar Take Subtle Shots At Drake?

While Kendrick Lamar is certainly having a great year, some feel that some of his recent comments about ghostwriters and pop artists were directed at Drizzy!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Kendrick Lamar has had a pretty big year, once again!

His 'DAMN' album debuted at No. 1, and it stayed in the top 5 on the Billboard 100 & 200 charts for 16 consecutive weeks!

That's not all, 'DAMN' was also the best-selling album of the first two quarters of 2017, and the album has now been certified double platinum.

K. Dot recently did an interview with Rolling Stone, and while you would think the focus would stay on him, fans are believing that the Compton rapper took some subtle shots at Drake during the interview. Check out some quotes from the interview below and you be the judge!

Is it ever OK for a rapper to have a ghostwriter? You've obviously written verses for Dr. Dre yourself.

It depends on what arena you're putting yourself in. I called myself the best rapper. I cannot call myself the best rapper if I have a ghostwriter. If you're saying you're a different type of artist and you don't really care about the art form of being the best rapper, then so be it. Make great music. But the title, it won't be there.

You have a Number One record, which means, on some level, you're a pop artist.

It gets tricky because you can have that one big record, but you can still have that integrity at the same time. Not many can do it … wink-wink [laughs]. Still have them raps going crazy on that album and have a Number One record, wink-wink. Call it whatever you want to call it. As long as the artist remains true to the craft of hip-hop and the culture of it, it is what it is.

Kendrick did say that he likes Drake's music also.

What's your favorite Drake song?

Favorite Drake song [chuckles]. I got a lot of favorite Drake songs. Can't name one off the back. ... He has plenty.

Do you prefer him singing or rapping?

Both. Yeah.

Do you think Kendrick's comments about rappers having ghostwriters had anything to do with Drake, or do you think he was just speaking about how he felt on the subject overall?

remember this shot at drake? still gives me chills in '17

the art of it is all but dead... these dudes are regressing. or the dudes pushing these dudes got an agenda to keep hip hop listeners regressed. these guys putting out drug addict rappers is like reagan pumpin crack in the hood. Rappers literally saying the same thing rhyming the same words
