(AllHipHop Rumors) Colorism in entertainment has been a big topic of discussion this year. The topic has never been one that was hidden, but recently it has been getting hotter than ever due to the state of the union.
African-American male rappers, like most entertainers and figureheads, have been criticized for showing favoritism to women of the fairer shade. It has been said that the entertainment industry prefers a lighter shade of woman when hiring black women.
Not only has this been a topic of opinion, but has grown to be near fact, as most images glorified by African American males have featured women of lighter shades. Does the complexion determine the worth of the woman?
I don’t think so and I also don’t think it’s any identification of the true preference of the male involved, but that’s just my opinion.
Now, Yo Gotti is having to answer questions about his choice of woman.
Yo Gotti took to Instagram to post a picture of himself in a post with a crew of women. The photo was innocent enough, but one thing caught the eye of his African American female followers.
There were no women of darker shades in the photo. I saw the photo and didn’t think much of it myself, but I can see how there could be confusion and so do the women who began to question Yo Gotti about it in his comment section.
Do you think Yo Gotti should have to explain his preference in women to his followers? Let us know your thoughts below.
