After taking three years between releasing albums, which seems like an eternity in rap, Memphis Bleek is wasting no time in preparing the follow-up to M.A.D.E.
The rapper is tentatively set to drop 534 this June, just six months after his most recent album, which was released in December of 2003. The title refers to the building where he and Jay-Z once resided while being raised in Brooklyn, New York.
“That just represents the struggle where I came from,” Memphis Bleek told AllHipHop.com about the album title. “You could never forget it, you got to know where you come from to know where you going, you know?”
While Bleek’s last album delved more into his personal life, touching on topics such as his newborn son and his brother’s life-threatening motorcycle accident, the Roc-A-Fella recording artist said his new album would have a lighter tone.
“M.A.D.E. is just to let people know more about me, this album I’m having more fun with it,” he said. “Party with my ladies, party with my real OGz and do it big, just make good music.”
Though Bleek has been working on his next project, which will feature production from 9th Wonder, he’s still remains busy promoting M.A.D.E.
He announced he, Jay-Z and Foxy Brown have recorded a remix to his single “Round Here.”
The original track featured bouncy production courtesy of Just Blaze, and found Bleek alongside Southern rappers Trick Daddy and T.I.
Bleek, however, is not sure whether he will shoot a video for the Brooklyn-based remix.
“It depends on how hot it gets,” he said. “If it’s heavy rotation, that means it’s a demand [and] I got to.”
