Rapper/actor Ludacris has signed on to star in the movie tentatively titled Game. The action-thriller stars actor Gerard Butler (300, P.S., I Love You) as the champion of an online game called “Slayers.” In the movie, mind-control technology allows humans to control other humans in mass scale game play. Butler (as Kable) must regain his identity, attack the system that stole it and defeat an evil genius named “Hal,” all while being tracked by millions of other players. Ludacris has joined the cast as a freedom fighter in part of a resistance group known as the “Humanz.” The film is in production and is slated to hit big screens in 2009.

 

Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z’s concept album American Gangster will debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, moving over 433,000 copies its first week in stores. The album fended off a number of high profile releases, including Garth Brooks’ Ultimate Hits collection, which landed at #2, selling 355,000 copies. R&B sensation Chris Brown’s Exclusive took the #3 position, moving just over 300,000 copies. Philadelphia rapper Cassidy’s album B.A.R.S. landed at #10 moving almost 70,000 copies. American Gangster is Jay-Z’s 10th #1 album, officially tying the rapper with Rock & Roll legend Elvis Presley for the most #1 albums.

 

Foxy Brown’s delayed album Brooklyn’s Don Diva has been given a new release date. The album was scheduled to hit stores November 25, but that date has been pushed back to February 5. The incarcerated rapper recently released the album’s first single, “When the Lights Go Out.” Foxy Brown is currently serving a year in prison for violating the terms of her probation, after she assaulted her neighbor with a Blackberry device last July.

 

Rap superstar Doug E. Fresh will host an all-star group of players who will compete in Power Moves Inc.’s 3rd Annual Celebrity Spades Tournament in New York tomorrow (November 15). NBA players Vince Carter, Jas Kidd, Jamal Crawford, Richard Jefferson will join artists and personalities like Terrence and Rocsi, Keenan Thompson, Angie Martinez, Nicoye Banks (One Life to Live), Deelishus, Jadakiss, Styles P., Remy Ma and numerous others in the spades tournament, which is for charity. The event takes place at Club Strata from 7:00PM – 11:30PM. Additionally, twelve young men from the New York area will be awarded with assistances from the Power Moves Scholarship program during the evening.
