There are very few vocalists that should be allowed to even consider the act – or thought, for that matter – of covering the “gems” in Whitney Houston “music box!” Alas, given the scarcity of pure, silky-smooth voices, AllHipHop.com has compiled a short-list of worthy participants who could provide a fitting tribute to “THE VOICE” – Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012). [EXCERPT] from Clayton Perry’s 05/18/11 interview with Clive Davis – on the unique quality that defines music’s greatest vocalists: “[Whitney Houston' approach to music] is more in the mold of Billie Holiday and Lena Horne – vocal geniuses. In that area, you have artists like Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and Jennifer Hudson. They are only similar in that they interpret the music of others. Their voices are completely different, however. You will never mistake their voice. When you hear it, you know instantly – within seconds. You’ll never mistake them.”
