Hip-Hop Rumors: Still No Detox In Sight, But Dr. Dre Finds Time To Appear In Kendrick Lamar’s “The Recipe” Music Video

The myth that is Detox is no closer to release than it was 10 years ago. Instead, Dr. Dre is finding the time to appear in his new signee’s music video, Kendrick Lamar’s “The Recipe”.

The Doctor was in the house earlier this week when the two shot the music video at a Malibu mansion. ScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul also stopped by the set to show their Black hippie support for the Compton rapper.

I guess hanging out at a Malibu mansion with a bunch of bikini clad babes ranks higher on the list than completing Detox for Dr. Dre these days. What can you do!? Check out the photos from the set of “The Recipe” below, courtesy of ScHoolboy Q’s instagram:

Kendrick Lamar is currently prepping his major label debut via Aftermath/Interscope/TDE.

i aint feeling Kendrick Lamar’s delivery but he seem like a down to earth kindah brother

  • detox might never drop

    • ONE

      It will never drop

      • johnblacksad

  • i just don’t care about detox no more…..but i am to listen to 2001 and reminisce

    • about to listen*

      • johnblacksad

        that’s what the edit’s for… jus sayin

    • johnblacksad

you mean you about to listen to the first half of 2001 right?

  • junj03

I am about to give up on this site. everything in the rumor section is NOT a rumor or its based on POP shit. Very disappointing

am i the only one whos not going crazy over kendrick lemar? dudes not THAT dope, savior of the west? hell no

    • Bumpy Johnson

yea i know wachu sayin…i was expecting something better after all the hype ..but im tryna praise anybody that can atleast have more than 10 words per verse….shit with people like chief keef getting buz having a verse itself will be lyrical in rap soon

      • water_ur_seeds

funny i was saying something similar a while ago, stuff that wasnt considered lyrical back in the day, like in the 90s, now seems mad lyrical… rappers like mystikal wernt considered lyrical, shit now his new stuff sounds like some sort super lyrical genius lol

  • let’s just call it what it is…..The Detox Myth……The album that made the Doctor relevant…..but never came out. My kids were 5 and 6 when he started talking about (the album that was more anticipated than The Songs In The Key Of Life album) Detox……now they’re 15 and 16. If I keep  holding, my breath. I won’t see my son graduate

    • Nemesis_Enforcer

And thats the exact reason why it will not come out or will fail if it does.  The people who were 25 and 26 back then are 35 and 36 and some pushing 40 or even 50 (if you were in your late 30’s back then).

What 40 or 50 year old have you heard talking about detox? Some things are just opportunity missed.  This Kendrick song was even a detox song at one time.  So this story is ironic.

This kid is going to be shelved like the rest of dem,  Dre cant promote an artist who cant create a buzz for himself.  When this single flops, Dre is gonna move onto something else & leave this kid behind (Bishop Lamont, Stat, Slim the Mobster, the fat dude in Slaughterhouse, even Rakim, the list goes on).

Dre has destroyed more careers then 50 lol

    • Nemesis_Enforcer

Don’t forget Marsha Ambrosious and Busta’s second album.  What about that dude Hayes that him and Timbaland were supposed to be working with?  What about Hot rod? Man it goes on forever.

      • bisolabliss

Imagine what would have happened to Eve if she didn’t up and left for Ruff Ryderz back in the day….

    • Lmfao @ fat dude in slaughterhouse

  • And how much do you bet he will not even come out with an album? I gave up on Detox 7 years ago.

  • is that a dude wearing grey capris ? yikes

  • MrTroyMercy

This is the hardest song out right now………… point blank.

  • Nemesis_Enforcer

K Lamar is a good rapper but he’s just not a star. Im so interested to see how Interscope treat his career.  Probably signed him to a 360

  • BulldogCG

it was like 7-8 years between Chronic and Chronic 2001 so he has been known to make people wait.  Dre’s long ass career and it would only be his third studio album, he has always been a producer first.  May come out, may not, but if it does it will only be in a win-win situation, doesnt want to tarnish the image.

  • if detox does come out its gonna be wack

  • MadVillain

Freddie Gibbs (i know he not westcoast) > Kendrick Lamar by far, its funny how all the mediocre rappers manage to generate so much buzz but the real lyricists go unnoticed. regardless keep it dat way, i fuccs wit da underground. also fucc detox and fucc dat f4ggot a$$ dre, every1 know if it EVER comes out itll be a sh!tty pop album with all kinds of sellout rappers featured.

    • Weedras

just because Gibbs ain’t doing what he’s supposed to do to get ppl talking about his shit doesn’t its Kendrick Lamar’s fault, dude’s ok… you should tell Gibbs to stop smuggling weed through airport security and tweeting about it and get up on his music game…

  • Carlos

the staff at all hip hop need a lesson in telling the difference between a rumor and news and also how to use spellcheck. doesnt anyone proof read this stuff.

  • D_Ably

I’m hopin Detox don’t drop at all. Remember back in 2011 when he dropped Kush? that song was ok at best then he dropped I need a doctor, that song was just horrible. I was thinkin ‘is this what hes been workin on for the last 10+ years?’ the songs were average and singles are suppost to be cream of the crop. No ones waitin for Detox no more.

  • rep87

Nobody in the streets is talking about when Detox is dropping why Ahh keep putting this shit out Dr Dre got rich and he dont even care !

  • Kendrick Lamarr is one of the best artist out there now. his creativity is genuis, his style is dope and he has something to say. Alot more then  then these artist that getting spun on the radio daily. the hip hop community so strung out on 2Chainz and drake they dont hear the real music. Been a K Dot supporter since day one and i disagree with the people saying hes going to be shelfed. difference with dude is hes on two labels and he doesnt need dre promotion to put out an album.
