Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay Electronic Shoots Down Nas Rumors

This is utterly stupid. Just stupid. But, we have to go through this process of healing, don’t we? Anyway, this is moving along pretty fast. As you know, in a Twitter exchange, writer dream hampton said that Nas used ghostwriters Stic.Man of dead prez and Jay Electronica to get him by on his album “Untitled” aka the N-Word album. Well, Nas dispelled the assertion. And Stic.Man partially did, saying that he worked with Nas. And now Jay Electronica has come to the rescue of one of the all time greats.

On twitter, Jay-E said the following:

“Nas is one of the Greatest Ever. never has and never will need a ghostwriter. that man’s pen and legacy is without question.”

And, so there it is.

Do we really need to say anything else on this topic? I hope not. While the truth is important, its also important to keep our icon just that. ICONS.

Nas has been in the game some 20 years or something crazy. He deserves more than these people are giving him. All hail. Or at least, most hail.

People act surprised. Its the Twitter, Blog era man, this stupidity happens everyday. Some random person could tweet “The world is really flat ya’ll!!” and idiots would be sitting around waiting for confirmations and responses. Those of us with common sense just roll our eyes and use the brain god gave us to see through obvious non-sense. Nas has a writing style, its clear to see for anybody who knows anything about hip hop that this rumor has no truth to it. If anything they might have helped him with the concepts of the songs on that album they were featured on, and maybe came up with the chorus but the rhymes sounded like Nas rhymes.

      I agree with you 100%

    • people only believe half of what she said because she did have half of the story right .. Stic Man and Jay-E helped nas with untitled but they were there to help with ideas, production, hooks, subjects etc… they werent there to pen verses 😉 …. theres one story that you can find on the net of stic man saying he emailed nas a beat and 2hrs later Nas calls him and tells Stic that song is done ….!!!!!!!! nas could of still used a writer lol but if it was it wasnt sticman or jay-e lol 😉 #GOAT !!!!!!

    A hook here…topicz to delve into…some beat selection….yeah thas it…the rhymes are definitely Nasir’s

  • Who is Dream Hampton? She did get press time.
I’m a Nas hater, because he wastes his talent, but I never disputed that he has it!
Nas needs a ghostwriter….that wasn’t even born when he was “Nasty Nas”, Live at the BBQ?

    Get serious!

    • nas has been on another level lyrically since the boy was 15 thats why i dont give none of the new rappers a pass with they lazy as lyrics !!!!!!!!!!!!! step ya game up and stop doing a rush job with your talent mold it let it grown and inspire folks to do better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉

    • Nah E, if I ain’t mistaken Jay Elec’s in his 40s or close to it. Still, the whole notion of Nas needin a ghostwriter is straight doo-doo butter(in my you voice)! LOL

      • Ok, but still, you know what it’s hitting for.
KRS? Yeah, but no way J E writing for Nas, IMHO, he isn’t that talented.

Good to see you Malcolm Little.
Hit up on face book ( From Ahh to FB, Free World One Power, The Immortals ) , almost all the old AHH people on their.

Lots of established MC’S use ghost writers some times from the pressure of album release dates. I think its fine. Nas was a legend before these guys were known. They both are great also. Stic man helped with the content because of his knowledge base. They all are legends with a mutual respect for one another.

  • side note someone bring me dream hamptons head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol 😉

  • RichFromBX

If Nas got a hook or two from someone, who cares…I think every MC out there at some point or another got a hook from someone…even if it was just a sample…Jadakiss has made some pretty decent money providing just hooks for artist.

the hook is the difference between having a couple of dope verses over a beat or a hot song…

If Rakim is the God MC and Nas is Gods Son then why would a Ghost be necessary? Find something meaningful to talk about like Lee Bannon, REKS, Termanology or the others contributing to TRUE UNDERGROUND HIP HOP. Mainstream is soft and feminized.
