Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga

Hip-Hop Rumors: Was Kendrick Lamar's Meddling "Camp" To Blame For Missing Lady Gaga Collabo?

When Kendrick Lamar’s tracklisting for good kid, mA.A.d city was released earlier this week, many people were confused about the omission of Lamar’s collabo with Lady Gaga, “Partynauseous”. Meanwhile, Kendrick blamed the absence of the track on not quite fitting in with the rest of his music:

“Me and Lady Gaga, we really good friends. She’s not on the album. We got some records, but when I was breaking down the bulk of the album, the ones we picked, we set them aside for future reference,” the West Coast lyricist told Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. “I already had everything premeditated for this day, for October 22nd.”

Lady Gaga begs to differ, and released a statement blaming the absence on Kendrick’s meddling camp making changes and compromising her music. Check out Gaga’s statement below:

I apologize to the fans that this situation with Partynauseous is confusing. To it clear it up I must explain this. When I collaborate with an artist i work solely with them, not with their camps or management. Its purely organic and creative. I love Kendrick dearly as a friend, but was not willing to compromise musically to the changes his team was making to my music. This is why I am not his record. I have a very specific vision as a producer and songwriter, and I always have. That song will be released at a different time, for a different project. I love you, and think you should check out his stuff because he is truly great. He’s a good kid, its just sometimes a mad city. -LG

Whatever the reason, that’s too bad – that collabo was tight.

hell yeah, i mean i never have heard a TDE collab where they have edited it so much it doesn’t fit, everyone in TDE says they’re all about creative control, gaga making the rest of TDE look bad

  • Blackstallion777

Not surprised. I could see Dre and his team doing something like that. He is very controlling, musically

    • Nemesis_Enforcer

No they are talking about TDE, not Dre.

      • Blackstallion777

and you what know this how? She didn’t say who it was and we already know Aftermath is heading Kendrick’s album in the joint venture they signed and Dr. Dre is a perfectionist in the studio. It’s safe to assume that Dre has the most control over the album than anyone in TDE not named Kendrick.

“many people were confused about the omission of Lamar’s collabo with Lady Gaga”

    I wasn’t! Good riddance!!!

lol they just used her for fans,u think kendrik is a fool to work with gaga sellout

  • Both sound right, Kendrick handled it better though!

  • Nemesis_Enforcer

You already know. “We” will mess up anything lol. Street dudes don’t know anything about business etiquette. Kendrick probably got caught up in the middle. Although I haven’t heard the song and can’t imagine it being my taste, no one can deny that a Gaga record would have helped him sell that many more records. If u a real fan, that’s what you wish for so the artist can be around for a long time. TDE just helped him lose a bunch of dinero. And if he don’t sell, it’s one and done dealing with Interscope. It must have been pretty bad if Gaga didnt just allow Kendrick’s story (that it didn’t fit the project) be THE story.
