Exclusive Video: Jon Connor’s Top 5 Producers Who Rap “At The Same Damn Time!”

Being a good producer as well as an artist “at the same damn time” is a line that very few in the music industry have been able to balance.

Clearly, you have your super human specimens like Kanye West and Dr. Dre who seem to do it flawlessly, but then you have others who just can’t seem to find success when they try to step into the other lane.

Breeding Ground alumni and fellow rapper/producer Jon Connor knows all too well about the challenges that face a multi-tasker in the studio.

AllHipHop.com sat down with the Flint, Michigan representer to find out his “Top 5 Rapper/Producers – Dead or Alive.” Take it from us, this kid has done his homework and breaks down his Top 5 like a true Hip-Hop scholar. Check the exclusive video below:

Jon Connor is currently on tour with rapper Xzibit. Download his latest mixtape, The People’s Rapper, LP as well as his whole catalog of mixtapes here.

    RZA! Bong!

    Q-Tip, Kanye, RZA, KRS-One, Havoc.
Dre. doesn’t write his raps and Em doesn’t have enough classic beats under his belt yet.

    • jacksjus

Not necessarily in that order, but something like that.

    • jacksjus

DJ Quik could fit in too.

Now, if EM & Dre could count as one person, it’d be a no brainer…

WOW U DUMMIES FORGOT PETE ROCK AND DILLA…LARGE PRO. INSIGHT
you guys only know nothing…and if you wanna get deep

    • johnblacksad

Can’t believe he left Dilla out the list and he from Michigan! haan?!!

Choc Boy Wonda, Large Pro & Q-Tip are definitely strong contestants…

    • jacksjus

It’s not that Dilla and Large Pro aren’t good, I think their body of work as MC’s was never taken as seriously as their production skills. Now if we’re talking producers only my list changes considerably but the question was the double threat. Extra P, Pete Roxk and Dilla hardly raised the bar lyrically. Although Large Pro is arguably the better MC of the 3.

No living person should make one of these lists without Dilla in there somewhere, at least he wrote his own rhymes… Dr Dre don’t and I ain’t hating on Dre. Dilla was better than Kanye has been thus far and he could flow. he deserves to be top 5, but these lists are subjective.
