Popular Atlanta Radio DJ and Philanthropist Frank Ski to Leave V-103FM

(AllHipHop News) A surprising shake up happened in Atlanta radio today (December 13) when radio personality and local celebrity, Frank Ski, announced the end of his “Frank and Wanda Morning Show”, which aired daily on urban station, V-103FM for the past 14 years. The tearful announcement, made as a read written statement, prompted supportive calls from competing radio hosts, Rickey Smiley and Michael Baisden.

Frank Ski, a Baltimore native, has been a staple in Atlanta radio as well as the community sponsoring numerous charitable events, including the most recent Frank Ski Celebrity Winetasting hosted by Kevin Liles. He is also the owner of the popular, Frank Ski’s Restaurant and Lounge, which has played host to numerous Hip-Hop oriented events, including LudaDay Weekend. There was no mention of changes in the ownership or management of the restaurant, although the Atlanta Journal Constitution noted that the radio personality’s Dunwoody, Georgia, home is currently for sale, with a listing price of $2.2 million.

In a written statement, Frank Ski stated: “As the story continues, you will hear me again on radio & I will not leave the city I call home. As one beautiful chapter ends and another begins, I will take the memories we’ve created and never forget how the story began. I look forward to sharing the next chapter with you, and creating even more unforgettable memories. This is not a good-bye, Atlanta, but instead — to be continued… very soon.”

V-103FM, which is owned by CBS Radio, is expected to replace the “Frank and Wanda Morning Show” with popular Atlanta radio personality, Ryan Cameron, who currently holds the “drive time” slot at 2pm to 6pm. On tap to possibly fill the available afternoon slot is former BET Host and nationally-syndicated radio personality, Big Tigger.

I feel ya on dat. I never liked Frank and Wanda so I started listening to the Rickey Smiley show on 107.9 But for real, I was mad when they got rid of the A-Team morning show on 107.9. Rashaan Ali was fine az hell.

  • I am happy because they’re old as hell and need to make way for newer on air talent. They were no longer funny, nor entertaining. I dont think ANYONE should be on the radio for 14 years and not bring ratings lie he was allowed to. he is a good person and does a LOT for the community but he and Wanda were way past their time and prime. CBS low-balled him hoping he would quit. They won.

Ok this is in line with rumors I heard from 2011. Those rumors stated that Frank Ski would be leaving 103 to host a show on the east coast. Also the rumors on Ryan Cameron taking over the morning spot also came true. Thanks for the memories Frank and Wanda.

Who cares.. the onlt reason the sho last as long as it did was becasue it was in the Atlanta Market. The show was old and tired and its not’s whats happening. Had this show been in a Major market like New york his their career would be over. He states in his written statement that he’s not leaving Atlanta however his home is for sale??? come on fool.. I mean dudes name is Frank Ski lol
